This morning - I attended the Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce's annual breakfast with the Mayors. Local mayors from Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, Long Grove, Lake Zurich, North Barrington etc. attended - and gave us their views on how to solve traffic congestion in the area.

Of interest - there was a wide disagreement on whether Route 53 should be extended or not. The mayors for Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer were against extension - claiming that other roads in the area would need to be enhanced first - in order to handle things - whereas the Mayor of Lake Zurich was for the extension.

The estimated cost for route 53 extension is $2 billion - not a cheap sum - but it was generally admitted that it would solve some of the traffic congestion problems in the area.
