I agree with you, Tammie. It looks like a building came down somewhere. I always wanted to see that happen in person. Guess it'll have to go on my bucket list... the list is getting long.
Hi Kathy, My guess would be this is the storm damaged building recently demolished in Miami.
Kathy,
With all that reinforced concrete, that must have been one heck of a storm.
Rich
Richard- South Florida was hit badly in 2004 with Hurricane Wilma and a few others. This was a 30 story building!
Jason- It was quite an undertaking. People had to be evacuated hundreds of feet around the area. You can't tell from the photo but there are 2 condos within a few feet of this one.
Rebecca-We just happened to drive by the huge pile of rubble today after seeing the implosion this morning.
Morgan- Hope you checked out the video.
It definitely had to be a building, Kathy. A really REALLY big building, perhaps?
Kathy,
I missed seeing this today. Did you witness the implosion? Nice photo of the "after." :)
Steve
Did they demolish a building? I'd guess a landfill but I don't see any crap laying around.
Heather- believe it or not it was 30 stories!
Steve- didn't make it out but drove by it yesterday. Didn't know I was going so all I had was my camera phone.
Lisa-it was the 3rd largest imploded building in the U.S. They imploded it around 9am and we went by around 3. No debris at all in the street.
Kathy, pretty amazing how buildings can be so easily be taken down by nature and by dynamite!
It's impressive how well they can control the debris with an implosion. I imagine in another year or two they'll be a spectacular brand new building there.
Doug and Gloria- what mother nature didn't get; man came in and finished it off!
John- I'm sure another one will pop up. They say it will take months to remove the debris.
Cynthia-What was amazing many months after the hurricanes were all of the blue tarps over roofs, waiting for the insurance companies and contractors.
That is exactly what I saw Kathy a sea of blue tarps against your beautiful ocean :(
