Historic homes on Huguenot  Street in New Paltz NY

Huguenot street is a place where it appears as if time stood still.  It is really amazing to see six historic homes still standing on the same street. Built in the late 1600's these are some of the oldest homes around.  Today I will feature one of the six homes.

Huguenot street is a National Historic Landmark.  The street has been lived on since 1677 when it was founded by 12 protestant families who were refugees from France.

Jennifer we have several older houses around here, but I have never been in any as old as those you have posted here.  I am sure that it is a nice experience to tour them.

Hi Jennifer, As I was looking though your photo collection of the Bevier house, I  was taken with the contradiction of the electrical wires surrounding the house, since there weren't any back when the home originated. A very nice presentation.

New Paltz has Las Vegas beat by about 225 years. They must have built them quite well to endure 300 winters!

Jennifer, we can just see the big skirts and bonnet hats as the ladies walked these streets, the horses clomping down the street.....what a different era.

Teri It truly is a nice place to visit.

JeanAnne It is usually to have a street that old with the original homes, so  New Paltz is fortunate to have such a treasure.

Steve  I find them so interestng and I always think about all the manual worked that was necessary to produce such masterpieces.
