Are you giving your 10 % ?

Are you giving your 10% ? No, I'm not talking about tithing your money.

I'm talking about tithing your time.

We know we are supposed to give the first 10% of our income, but how about the first 10% of our day?

We should be giving the first of everything, not just money, to God.

My question to you is this, "How do you spend the first of your day with , God?"

update.......

I want to take this time to say, that we are truly supposed to give above and beyond. It's not about the 10% , it's about the first of everything. So, just as you would give the first of your fruits, in that also, give the first of your day. And by no means, stop at the first, but rather give your all!

You truly will reap what you sow, so.......  sow your best !

I spend it praying that I am going to meet my personal quota lol ... ok kidding... but really, I thank him for all that I personally have become through him and all that he has blessed me and my employees with everyday - especially in today's Michigan economy!

I agree strongly with Alexander.

I don't "believe" in the 10% rule. If you take it back to biblical times, it was 10% regularly + 10% on the year + 10% every third year. that is actually around 23.33% if you get literal.

I believe that 100% of your time & your money should be used to glorify God. Sure, give 10% to the church. Scripture clearly says to "support your local Levite" in a manor of speaking. But don't through away the other 90%! Use it for God's glory. That may mean paying your light bills, paying off all of your debts (borrower is slave to lender), buying healthy food, etc... But do it all for the glory of the Lord. Be a good steward with 100% of your time & money!

PS Good thoughts! I didn't miss your point!! Our pastor said that 15 minutes a day is just 1% of your week!!!! That is unbelievable! What a small amount of time that we actually focus on the Lord!
The answer to your question: I read a passage of scripture that I'm studying and write what I feel the Lord is saying. Then I write my prayers & just spend a little time listening for him to speak to me.

Edith!  That was absoulutely beautiful!  You have NO idea how much that struck me, and how I am going to put that in my daily life.  My faith which is something I always Thought I had, you know be nice to people, be a good person..Blah Blah Blah...  It wasn't until I read this book just recently called "On the Edge" That really put me on notice, and caused me to reflect on what my faith really was.  It is an amazing book, and completely changed my life!!

I believe in the principle of tithing and even though I do not necessarily sit down to pray for 2.4 hours of the day, I believe He knows I do tithe 10% of my time to Him, hopefully more!!!

I'd say we all agree that 10% of whatever we have...

time or money, should be the minimum we give to the Lord.

I like what Paul said about giving;

7 Each man should give as he has decided in his heart. He should not give, wishing he could keep it. Or he should not give if he feels he has to give. God loves a man who gives because he wants to give. 8 God can give you all you need. He will give you more than enough. You will have everything you need for yourselves. And you will have enough left over to give when there is a need. 9 The Holy Writings say, "He has given much to the poor. His acts of love last forever." (Psalm 112:9) 10 It is God Who gives seed to the man to plant. He also gives the bread to eat. Then we know He will give you more seed to plant and make it grow so you will have more to give away. 11 God will give you enough so you can always give to others. Then many will give thanks to God for sending gifts through us. 12 This gift you give not only helps Christians who are in need, but it also helps them give thanks to God. 13 You are proving by this act of love what you are. They will give thanks to God for your gift to them and to others. This proves you obey the Good News of Christ. 14 They will pray for you with great love because God has given you His loving-favor. 15 Thank God for His great Gift.  2 Cor 9

I fully believe that our life should always be focused 100% on the Lord. When you learn to live for the Lord instead of for the flesh on a daily basis then your faith is strong and you can truly enter into Gods rest.
