Using a Call Checklist Leaves No Call Up To Chance

I am a huge checklist person. I have checklists for everything when it comes to real estate. Checklists for Buyer appointments, Listing Appointments, Closings, after closings, marketing, open houses, etc, etc. These checklists have been a huge help especially when I am really busy and multi-tasking like crazy so naturally I decided a Call Checklist would be a good thing to have as well. Buyer Call, Seller Call, Renter Call, Relocation Call, Investor Call.

Love those call checklistsThese checklists have been invaluable for me when a call comes in. You see I am a 'answer thy phone' sort of person and because I am, I'm usually immersed in something else at the time of the call.

At first I was somewhat clumsy at using them as I found I was searching for the right one while on the call. But after a few crazy calls being handled that way I found my niche of getting the checklist and doing so gracefully. It was quite simple actually. Once I knew exactly what the caller was calling about I would ask them to hold for just a moment while I got myself comfortable so that I could give them my full attention. I would then go grab the right checklist. And without fail every caller has been appreciative of me doing just that.

Using a call checklist has also made me consistent with my questions. Of feeling more confident at asking those questions and of receiving the answers I need in order to be of better service. My attention is fully on them with a checklist in hand.

Calls with my checklist in hand are so much nicer now.. Everything I need about the caller is on one piece of paper including date of call, name, address, phone numbers, email, reason for call, etc. No longer am I grabbing whatever piece of paper is handy.

Yep, call craziness is a thing of the past and the best thing is

No longer is a call left up to chance

Martha, As everyones has said, "Great idea!" I would also appreciate a copy of your call list. Do you have separate lists for different calls (buyer, seller, sign, etc)?

Thanks for sharing

Martha so true!! Too many times when we are busy we grab a call and not give the caller our full attention. I think people appreciate the fact that you value their call. The simplicity of telling them how you work right in the beginning, can win their loyalty and turn them into a customer for life!,

What a terrific reminder. I need a checklist because the more info that goes in, the more chance it has to get misfiled. I need to be able to retrieve it easily.

Sounds good Martha, but I'm a "let it go to voicemail" kind of guy.  LOL.  Most realtors think I'm crazy but sometimes I just get sick of answering the phone.  I do plenty of business so I'm not worried about losing clients.  I refer most leads that come my way because I like to spend time with my 4 kids every once in a while.  However, I do have checklists for my assistant in regards to listings and closings and they are a HUGE help.  It makes sure that every task gets done and no stone goes unturned.  Great advice!
