The Arts Alive Banner Project in Encinitas CA is here again.

Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association offices in Encinitas CA 92024

Arts Alive Banner Project in Encinitas posterThis annual project combines local artistic talent, open-air displays, and an auction of 101 banners to raise funds for various groups in the local community. How cool is that?!

Read More - It's a Banner Day in Encinitas California (the 10th annual event, in 2009)

This is a very cool project (a signature project of the 101 Artists' Colony), with area artists creating colorful banners that will be displayed up and down historic Route 101 (the Coast Highway) in Encinitas, then auctioned off later this year (minimum bids are $150 - what a great price for an original piece of art work).

In addition to the 101 Artists' Colony, the Arts Alive Banner Project is presented by the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association (DEMA) and the Cardiff 101 Chamber of Commerce

The unveiling of the 2010 Arts Alive Banners will be on Saturday February 20 at the Cabo Grill at 1950 N. Coast Highway 101 from 2 - 5 pm. I'll be there and you can expect a follow-up article with pics and video.

Hi Jeff ~ What a cool idea for a fundraiser! And if the 2009 banners are any indication the auction should be a great opportunity to pick up a beautiful artwork.

Anything that puts one on the Highway 101 is worth the trip.  That is the most scenic drive I've ever experienced.

Good Regional Localism post.  Google has it for "arts alive project california".

Jeff, what a great event. Nashville has done something similar, execpt the artists were each given a guitar to paint and they were showcased outside of business throughout the city. Great fun for the artists and the consumers.

Jeff:

What a worthy cause. I love the 2009 banners, particularly the "Freewheels" bicyclists. All of them were imaginative and colorful.

Connie - now THAT is a cool idea, too. We had a similar event in Carlsbad where participating artists painted the utility boxes, and other similar things along the Carlsbad Village streets.

Joe - so true. And you never know who else might sees it. But part of it is that it is simply an enjoyable thing for me.

I probably will not be there. I'll be at the yoga studio (next to the Hwy 101 place) trying to maintain calm in the wacky world of short sales.

Claudette - and it was really fun to actually see them hanging along the mainstreet in town.

Nevin - it should be neat to see them all adn meet some of the artists.

Thanks, Chris - I truly appreciate your kind words.
