My Cousin is an Overeducated Painter in Atlanta

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Capital Properties DC AB15253

My cousin, Albert McDonald, 38, just received great recognition in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He is described as the head roller and owner of Overeducated Painters,  a painting company in Atlanta.  Albert  is a house painter, though it wasn't his first choice. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in finance, he tried and lost a series of jobs, and eventually ended up in Atlanta with Kodak.

When he was laid off by Kodak, he decided to quit looking for more jobs that would disappear with the rapidly changing economy.  "I realized I could only count on myself. I got tired of going to networking events and handing out business cards to others looking for jobs."

One day, somebody said, "Do you know any painters? And I said, ‘I'm pretty handy, I need the money, let me do it.' "  (I remember how handy is father is, so I am not surprised that he could become a painter!)

"You do good work, concentrate on the details, be good to your customers, and word gets around. We did the ballroom at the Atlanta History Center. We did the Margaret Mitchell House. You market by word of mouth."

As a finance major, he knew that a clever company name might help.  Hence, his company, Overeducated Painters, was established, a name that is "easy to remember and evokes a story."

"I did a lot of marketing in the corporate world," McDonald said. "Names mean something."

According to Albert's website, www.OvereducatedPainters.com,

Why he is different - Simple.

We only give you superior detailed quality work.

Our teams are all professional and easy to converse with.

We take extra time to get the job done correctly.

We use the best materials for the job. Is your caulk cracked? Ours won't.

We remove your electrical switch covers -instead of attempting to paint "around" them.

Our experience enables us to give our customers some of the best detailed work possible. We take 20% more time per job (than the other crews) to give you 200% percent better work.

Our various team members have specialties in virtually every home improvement area except lawn, garden and pool. Sorry, we had to draw the line somewhere and that would have been way too much equipment to carry around.

So if you need any home improvement work done, we do much more than paint.

If you know anyone in the Atlanta area who needs a painter or home renovator - Please - tell them to call my cousin! His phone number is 404-642-6452! Thanks!

He gets my vote simply because of this:

"We remove your electrical switch covers -instead of attempting to paint "around" them. "

Lise, it's like College Hunks Hauling Junk.  That was an MBA project that Claudia Donovan's son did.  Your cousin should franchise!  It's totally brilliant as a business model.
