15 Comments on SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK... WHY I CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE:
Paula - Gorgeous photos, and it is easy to see why you were drawn to the area.
Norma: thanks for reading and commenting....it is so beautiful here! of course we have 8 inches of snow still on the ground right now but that too shall pass!
Great Localism post -- lovely part of the world - was there a couple years ago and it was lovely.
Bob and carolin: You are more than welcome to come here again---never thought I would leave Manhattan---but when I did, I never looked back! Thanks for reading and commenting!
I think the beaches on Long Island are just beautiful and your right, the Hamptons and Montauk and Greenport are more beautiful in May, September and October. It is my favorite time to spend at The End.
Living here in TN I can tell you I truelly miss the ocean. I used to live 1 hour away...now 8.
Liz: thanks for reading this and commenting....I love it here; has a lot to do with the history I think more than anything! But the Fall is perfection--
Diane: There is something about the ocean air--I hear it is the negative Ions that the ocean puts into the air that makes it very therapeutic. Tha nks for your comment.
Paula:
Very nice post and great pictures. Hope you have a super week.
This is a great localism post. Anyone looking to buy a home in Southampton should call you.
Paula,
Thank for being by tour guide this morning. It appears to be a magical place, enjoy!
Paula,
Great post....its amazing how these "SHORE" towns grow....I'm a Jersey Girl and witnessed the development of the Jersey Shore first handed....Its not all about snookie.....there are real folks here and beautiful beaches..also...
SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK...
A great town to live in and visit.
Those are beautiful photos.
Alan: ..and I hope you have a good week too. Thanks for reading and commenting....
Gita: I appreciate that! I do get calls from my Localism posts so I am hoping to hear from someone soon!
Pamela: It is a magical place and thank you for taking the tour! If you ever get a chance to come here you should see the Bay as well as the ocean---both are equally beautiful!
Corrine: I believe that! It is like the reputation that The Hamptons have now that "celebrity" has discovered it! It is shame that the average American has such a distorted idea of what these "shore" communities are really like...
Joshua: I am going to click on the link that you included but I am afraiid to do that while i am responding to all the great comments here--I have been know to lose a whole post by opeing a link when I have another window open---ah well! So much for my tech savvy!
Paula ~
your warm and divine writing style touched again my soul - just by the mention of the world colonist, you got 1,000% attention...my German folks too were colonists some migrated from Germany to Eastern Europe, the others to Milwaukee, Connecticut and Canada...
The journey of those early pioneers is so beautifully described in your lines, and the passion of hard labour and success demonstrate what they achieved...a great vison, a dream fulfilled in majestic Southhampton!
Thank you for sharing ~ fabulous post, great pictures...live the dream!
Peter: Thank you for appreciating the things that make this place so irresistable to me...I have spent some 30 years or so here and plan on spending many more!
