Seller Tip: The Path to a Memorable Front Door

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Charlemagne International Properties BRE# 01147470

I have a thing for front doors.  It is the introduction to the interior of your home and beckons buyers from the street and sidewalk.  Whether the buyer is sizing up the property from the curb or about to enter through your front door, your property is sending a message via the front door.

Most buyers pause at the front door while they either wait for someone to answer the doorbell or for their agent to open the lockbox to obtain a key.  Those 20 to 30 seconds are spent observing the entry to your property.  Not only should it be clean and functional it should send an invitation of welcome and create anticipation of great things to come.

A fresh coat of paint is a great accessory for any front door.  Glass panes should sparkle and hardware is a great way to express style.  Replacing your front door is a wonderful way to update your home's look without spending a fortune.  Whether you select an antique door with an interesting history or a sleek modern one, make sure it complements the style and design of the house.

The sale of your home may hinge on making a memorable first impression with your front door.

One of my favorite sayings is that you never get a second chance to make a good first impression....goes for people and houses...the entry way and front of the house may determine whether or not a potential buyer goes inside the house!
Thanks for great post!

Great advice!    That "welcoming moment" can often carry one right past some interior aspects that aren't "quite right".

It is hard to counter a negative first impression.
