Save Your Self Some Frustration

By
Real Estate Agent with West + Main

If you are a home buyer getting ready to jump into home ownership and plan to obtain a loan there are a few things you can do to save yourself a ton of frustration.

  • Make sure your ID is valid and shows your current residence as your address
  • Make sure you have bank accounts / utility bills and so on with the correct address
  • When you sign your offer, make sure you date each place a date is asked for
  • Create a file for all your paystubs and bank statements to go into so they can be easily obtained
  • Document where your earnest money, appraisal fees or other fees come from

These seem to be easy items - but when your loan hits final underwititng it is amazing the silly things that can cause a hiccup - cross your t's and dot your i's and closing will be much smoother.

... and don't go shopping! It's amazing how many folks succumb to a great furniture deal (or a new car) during escrow.

Good advice, such seemingly small things, that get overlooked and can cause delays.

Teresa being organized can really cut down on the frustration level.  t is so much nicer to have all the required document at your fingertip.

Banks always seem to ask for one more thing just when you think you've done it all.  Good advice.

If you saw a bomb ticking with the 30 to 45 day contract expiration ticking by, or the Wicked Witch's turned over hours glass sands shifting quickly from top to bottom, the sense of urgency to get this puppy closed would become more real. Life and death like. It is that important to the buyer and seller as this sale puts a major kink in their life if it does not happen on time, or at all. Guiding a sale from listing to closing...requires a doctors/nurses round the clock watching the monitors to keep the property sale alive.
