What's your number? How many daily contacts is "enough"? #in

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Pareto Realty TN #251071

In a very candid discussion with a few of our agents yesterday, we explored this notion of how many people we would need to contact daily to build and sustain a thriving business.

"100 Contacts a day!" said one person with much trepidation . . . "That's what I heard from so-and-so who sells GOBS of houses."

"100 Contacts a week!" said another who was certain that the magical number is 20 each day.

My guidance has always been a minimum daily allowance of 10 contacts each day with a goal of 15.

The REAL answer is: "The number of contacts YOU need in order to reach your business goals."

Well! That seems a bit vague, and it is.

Don't forget that we all have differences of opinions as to:

What's a contact? (Email - Tweet - Chat - Telephone Conversation - visit - accosting a person in a coffee shop or in the line at the grocery?)

What level of business is each person's GOAL?

Some folks are perfectly fine with a "2 contact daily level of business" while others' sights are set on a "20 contact daily level of business".

What are your EFFICIENCIES?

How long is each contact?

How genuine is each contact?

What results come from each contact?

Appointments?

I'm not attached to what your number is.

What I do wish for you is that HAVE A NUMBER.

Without this number, I'm wondering if you are really in business or is this thing you do every day just an expensive hobby? (Tough love talk from a coach)

This is worth a "thinking pause" . . .

Without appropriate action, goals are not much more than wistful dreams.

How do you find YOUR number?

Begin by paying close attention to what you are currently doing and TRACKING your effort and your results.

This might be as simple as tracking"

# of Contacts attempted (Dials, emails, drop-bys etc)

# of conversations had

# of Leads Generated

# of Appointments Scheduled

# of Signed Clients

and then . . . Sales, closings, and MONEY!

Your "number" may be a number for any one of these tracking categories.

Perhaps it's "100 dials" EVERY day - or 20 contacts - or don't stop calling til you've got 5 leads - or 3 appointments . . .

This ain't rocket science, and I see it as being especially important stuff to think about while many others are still in their Winter hibernation.

I don't know your number . . .

I think it's CRITICALLY important that YOU know your number!

I'm just sayin'

Best,

b

It's true it's not rocket science - it's sales science.  Rocket science doesn't vary by person, but sales science sure seems to...
