365 Things To Do In Austin: Man vs. Food Challenge at Juan In A Million

By
Real Estate Agent with Moreland Properties

Get ready for a handshake from the owner when you walk through the door of Juan In A Million, the warm welcome is a basically a trademark of the is East Austin Favorite. This is another list item that I am saying must occur for one to call themselves a true Austinite.

juan in a million

I could go on about all the things that make it Austin but I will get straight to the point and say they are most famous for their Dun Juan - a MASSIVE TACO stuffed with eggs, potatoes, bacon and cheese. This is cheap dining at its best. Take it though for what it is... a place to get decent food, a large amount at great price!

For those of you who are Travel Channel Junkies you may have seen the Man vs. Food Challenge where Adam takes on 8 breakfast tacos. I will never be that hungry to try that endeavor but it was fun to see a local joint on National TV.

Juan In A Million is full of local awards including:

•·         "Juan in a Million Review" by Rob Bolond, diningoutwithrobbalon.com

•·         "Juan Meza's World" by Rachel Feit, The Austin Chronicle

•·         "Personal touch makes him the Juan" by Dale Rice, Austin360.com

•·         "The 50 Best Pun Stores" Michelle Collins , Best Week Ever

Fred,

I am glad that you are still talking Tiffs Treats, yes - I have had some lately, they are too die for. Unfortunately it is so hard for me to stop at just one or two! They are like Girl Scout Cookies I lose all control!

Have a great afternoon!

I'm going to have to give Mi Madre's the edge on the East Side breakfast tacos - they are unmissable.

Yumm, I very much love Juan in a Million!! I also love Cantina Laredo and Rio Grande (the Old Real World House) for future bloggings!

More ideas madam? How about:

  • Alamo Drafthouse (an Austin favorite! Martin Scorsese's suspense "Shutter Island" starring Leonardo DiCaprio comes out today and will be played at the drafthouse on South Lamar)
  • Laser Tag (that big gym in south Austin is good for cold day when you want to break a sweat)
  • Austin Duck Adventures (it's a boat and car tour, all in one!) Though this is a summer idea I think, because they don't start til June, but a must-blog nonetheless!
  • Lakeway Resort and Spa (definitely Austin specific and gets rave reviews!)
  • The Elephant Room(live jazz, who doesn't like that?!) I haven't done this but realllly want to.

That's all I have for now KO, I hope this helps!! :)

I love that name!  You sure have a lot of choices for eating and drinking - it must be hard to decide.  Then again, you could just never cook, and eat out every night.

Georgina,

I must admit that I am one awful cook so I am always trying to eat out! I probably eat a total of 4 meals at home a month! I have managed to catch my kitchen on fire twice - so that ended my cooking. Only thing I really do now are cookies!
