  • Silver Spring takes its name from a mica-flecked spring discovered there in 1840 by Francis Preston Blair, who subsequently bought much of the surrounding land. Acorn Park, tucked away in an area of south Silver Spring away from the main downtown area, is believed to be the site of the original spring.

Koki, we used to live in DC and there was a great deli in Silver Spring that we used to go to all the time. I forgot the name because it's been so long, but it was awesome.

The fountain is great...except when you're walking by on your cell phone and don't realize it's about to go off :-)

There are a number of great deli's and numerous options for food. I love Thai Derm on Bonifant and Negril on Thayer Ave.
