Well, it's that time of year again -- Money Magazine has released it's annual list of The Best Places to Live in the U.S.

I SCOURED THE MONEY MAGAZINE LIST AND COULD NOT FIND MY TOWN OF ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA.

Why not I thought in a panic?  Alexandria's a great place to live!  After all we're close to D.C. but with lower taxes.  We've got lots of history -- yes George Washington did sleep here.  We have high-paying jobs, some beautiful homes, great restaurants, Old Town Alexandria with the charm of cobblestone streets and historic townhouses, great parks, the Potomac River, The George Washington Masonic Memorial, Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's, low unemployment, friendly people, and more!

Then I discovered the reason -- Money Magazine only rated towns with a population of between 7,500 and 50,000 people.  Alexandria has over 100,000 residents. We don't qualify as a big city either.

But, lo and behold, Money Magazine does have ratings based on other criteria.

Guess what I found -- ALEXANDRIA IS NUMBER 10 ON THE LIST FOR SKINNIEST AREAS! 

Money Magazine ranked U.S. counties by average Body Mass Index or BMI.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person’s weight and height. BMI provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems.  Calculate your BMI.

Alexandria City residents weighed in at an average BMI of 25.44.

Marin County, CA
Blaine County, ID
La Plata County, CO
Teton County, WY
Garfield County, CO
San Francisco County, CA
Boulder County, CO
Los Alamo County, NM
Summit County, UT
& Alexandria City, VA

Not only that, but nearby Fairfax County, VA weighed in at number 15, Montgomery County, MD was #21, and neighboring Arlington County was #22.

In fact, besides for Martin County, FL, these areas were the only ones to make the list on the East Coast, making me believe that the trimmest, fittest, most beautiful and sexiest East Coasters live in the metropolitan D.C. area.
