I'm always looking for fresh concepts for artwork. Here's an idea for creating a work of art out of your existing photographs. Below is one of my favourite photos; one that I took a couple of years ago. (If you follow by blog, you've probably seen it now and again in my posts, and until recently, it was the banner across my blog page.) I've always loved magnolias; maybe I was a Southern Belle in my past life :-), so I wanted to use this photo for my "experiment".
I used a photo website called Picnik, for editing my photo. I'm not the most tech savvy person, but Picnik has a great "idiot proof" programme that even I can deal with! I used their cropping feature to dissect the photo into 3 separate, equally-sized segments. From there, they were saved to a disk.
You can have these 3 new photos printed out on photo paper and framed with matting, or go the route of dry mounting. It's not really any less expensive than framing, but I like the dry mounted choice for this project - it has a more versatile look for staging in various properties.
Hang all 3 segments together on one wall approximately 3 or 4 inches apart. The space between each piece should be determined by the width of your wall.
There you have it, a great new piece of artwork from your photo!
