Kingman/Golden Valley Association of REALTORS honors their own

Welcome to the year 2010! This is going to be a great year for REALTORS and for consumers as well. The outlook is definitely looking up -  at least in inches if not in yards - but up is UP!

Every year that I have been in realestate, an end of the year Awards and Installation Banquet is held to honor those individuals and affiliates that have shown achievement in their businesses. Last year was extremely slow and funds were down as they have been for most of the real estate associations. When we held our 2010 budget meetings, we were told that the amounts allowed for the  2009 Banquet had been drastically cut from what they were for the 2008 Banquet.

Most of the years we had held the Banquet in Laughlin as it was thought that Kingman didn't have enough room for all the agents. There was a group of agents, nyself included, that felt we should hold the event in the town where we worked. This year, because of the economy, we did just that. Guess what! The Banquet was held last night in Kingman and it turned out fantastic! We had more participation than in previous years and decorations, since a lot of them were handmade, were the best I have seen in a long time. Now don't get me wrong, but maybe, just maybe, this down economy has its upside as well. Maybe we are learning that fancy is only in the eye of the beholder and using creativity and a lot of hard work and using fewer funds making something that will leave a lifetime memory, is getting us back to the real priorities in life.

My greatest thanks to all those who worked so hard and did such a good job of making this Banquet something to remember.
