Redding CA - Caltrans Eagle Cam, Nesting Eagle Pair Live Cam  - February 2010

In 2004 a pair of California Bald Eagles made a nest in Redding CA. In 2007 CalTrans in pursuit of Highway work at Hiway 44 and 5 placed a safety cone in the nest in an attempt to relocate the nesting pair. The attempts were to no avail and after public "input" the cone was removed. The Eagle pair have made themselves at home ever since. A Live Cam to monitor the pair of eagles has been streaming live video. The pair were dubbed "Patriot and Liberty" This year the pair are nesting 2 more eggs. Biologists report the eagles are "rolling" the eggs.

Wayne & Linda,  We were on a parcel a few weeks ago and an eagle flew almost right over us.  it was about 30 miles from this nest. I have no idea how many there are in our area.

How interesting. I had a few little ones at an inspection the other day whom I wanted to roll, but not in a good way.

By the way, you should join the ActiveRain Nature Station group and post great nature stuff like this there, too.

Steve & Joel--this is so neat.  I will forward to my grandsons.  Somewhere in my pictures from Alaska I have picture of two eagles in tree.  Love nature shots.

Mary,

I have marveled at the places I've seen the bald eagle. It's not much of a surprise they are off the endangered species list.
