No, this is not a buy one get eight free special. While looking over Huntington Beach Real Estate news this morning I read an article from the OC Register which took a look at luxury home listings in Orange County. I LOVE the article because it pushes my practicality buttons. According to the atricle (http://huntingtonhomes.freedomblogging.com/) there are now 6 homes for sale in Orange County which are over the $30M mark. The article goes on to say that with $35M you could purchase 61 median priced homes, or 9 luxury homes that most celebrities would be lucky to have.

For much of the country these numbers would be astounding, so I decided to do a little price comparison for myself and see what $35M would buy in some other parts of the country we love:

Anchorage Alaska: 134 Homes
Denver Colorado: 133 Homes
Houston Texas: 228 Homes
Muncie Indiana: 385 Homes
Elmira New York: 460 Homes
*Median home prices according to kiplinger.

Of course we all know that home prices are very high in California but I'm sure that many people don't realize just how high they are.See full size image
Would you rather own a castle in Laguna Beach, Or an empire in Muncie?

Dixon Team--When I saw that your starter homes are in the $400,000 range, I knew the numbers were a bit off. Wow...our average home is in the $160,000-200,000 depending on where you buy in the Twin Cities. Can't even imagine.

Jami- I think I'm with you there.

Jennifer- I sure wouldn't mind investing in half the city for the price of one home here in So Cal

Monique- Not Laguna Beach!! :-)

Teri- It is pretty amazing to be honest. But it's nothing compared to before the crash when a basic 3 bd single family could run 600-700k and almost every unit within 2 miles of the beach was over 1 mil.
