The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced Sunday the Appliance Swap Out Energy Rebate Program will be extended beyond Sunday's initial deadline. The Appliance Swap Out Energy Rebate program encourages people to trade in their old appliances for energy efficient appliances. Although more than $7 million has already been claimed by consumers in appliances another $9 million still remains.
There are two options Under the NYS Appliance Swap Out Energy Rebate.
Option One under the NYS Appliance Swap Out Energy Rebateis the Single Appliance Rebate: Under this rebate you can replace your old refrigerator, freezer, or clothes washer with a ENERGY STAR qualified model and you will receive a cash rebate up to $105. If you recycle your old appliance, you will not only be helping the environment you will receive the maximum rebate amount.
Option 2 of the NYS Appliance Swap Out Energy Rebate is the High Efficiency Appliance Bundle. When you purchase a bundle of three high efficiency ENERGY STAR qualified appliances you will receive a cash rebate of $555. This includes a combination of a refrigerator, clothes washer, and dishwasher.
It is estimated if every American House Hold took part in ENERGY STAR pledge, America would save over $18 billion in annual energy costs. This is equivalent to emissions of 18 million cars. That is why it is so important to take advantage of the rebate while it lasts.
