Yesterday my wife and I were looking at the local FOX 5 news 7 day forecast for our beautiful city of Las vegas, NV and it looked like this:

YUCK was both of our reaction!  I told my wife that this has been one of the hottest summers of the 11 summers I have spent in Vegas!  This led me to check http://www.accuweather.com/ for the JULY historical data and YIKES I should have never looked at it!  I thought I would share this with anyone who is planning on visiting Las Vegas this summer.

19 Comments on Let's talk about HEAT!

Aloha Rey

I grew up in Vegas - know exactly what your talking about. I moved to Hawaii back in 1984, but still have family there. I probably visit at least 3 times a year - as sick as this may sound - I actually enjoy that dry heat, I was out there last summer and probably walked around in the desert for about a half hour - it felt great.

But I do enjoy Hawaii - the Temp right now is 77 degrees - and we are expected to get up to searing 78 degrees today!

Have a gret day :)

Don't forget we still have the humidity of 'monsoon season' coming! A story in this morning's RJ summed it up pretty well: "When it's 110 degrees outside, nobody likes to go house hunting."

07/19/2007 01:42 PM by John Novak - Las Vegas and Henderson NV Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty The Marketplace)

Like Mary said, it's a dry heat. Throw a little humidity into that and it'll feel like you're walking into a wall every time you go outside. It's hot but it could be worst.

Mary, I love that response! LOL

Lance, Thanks for rubbing that in!  77 degrees? You don't get to respond to my posts anymore!!! LOL JK!

John, Don't remind me!

Wayne, As JOHN stated we get the best of both worlds because we are just starting MONSOON season and the humidity will kick in!

Hey Rey,

Don't tell me that you don't have A/C in your house, car, office, and every place you go!

When we want to "play" indoors we drive the 350 miles up the 15. When you want to "play" outdoors you could drive the 350 miles down the 15.

With all the "Zonies" here you would fit right in.

Hi Rey -- It is 85 and the NE trades are blowing over a 74 degree ocean.  The palm trees are swaying and the surf is up on the south shore.  Aloha LOL

BILL: The new thing in Vegas is a refrigerated air unit that is actually embedded in your body!  It does wonders with your core temperature! LOL By the way, What a Zonie?

Bruce: I am making a list and you and Lance are on it!

07/19/2007 04:54 PM by Rey Gallegos Home Loan Consultant Las Vegas, NV (A Mortgage Bank)

Hey Bruce - how come you guys are so hot over there? LOL

07/19/2007 06:24 PM by Lance Owens (Aloha Kona Realty Inc.)

Rey, Humidity or not, That is hot. Stay inside with the AC running. Talk to you soon.

Now you're starting to sound like my husband.  If he mentions moving to Idaho ONE MORE TIME this summer, I may have to strangle him!  Actually... it does feel hotter this year.  I think it's my age getting the best of me!

Rey I lived in Vegas for 18 months. Moved there last week of July in a car that overheated and had no A/C. I almost killed my father and husband(ex) for "suggesting" I move there. I got blisters though my shoes from the heat. We are hitting 100 most days here and yes don't you just love the guys with temps in the 70's and 50% humidity who say "but it's a dry heat"? Oh yes don't forget in Abq we think swamp coolers are an efficient way to cool in this heat. My living room hit 83 today. But it's a dry heat!

It has been hot here in Philadelphia area . Not as much as Vegas, but it is not good for house hunting .

I am a glutton for punishment, I LOVE IT!  When it was near 100 at 9 PM last night my husband and I said, "What a beautiful night."

LOL!

07/20/2007 09:42 AM by Renee Burrows - Las Vegas NV Real Estate (Nevada Realty Solutions)

Lance, You made Number 1 on my list passing Bruce!

Shaun, I will stay cool thanks.

Sue, I thought I was just being a baby about it.  That is why I looked at the stats.  Its Hot this year.

Ashley, TMI about the blisters but that is the reaction of most rookie Vegas people.  You have to get used to it. LOL

Gita, Correct I don't think people are wanting to cruise around much in the heat!

Renee, Its nice to be able to take a dip in the pool at 10 pm and not be cold.  Also, we can watch football on our back patio comfortably well into November!  Go Steelers!

07/20/2007 09:51 AM by Rey Gallegos Home Loan Consultant Las Vegas, NV (A Mortgage Bank)

Go Chiefs!  We will have to do Mon Nite Football somewhere sometime!

07/20/2007 10:20 AM by Renee Burrows - Las Vegas NV Real Estate (Nevada Realty Solutions)

Rey, Every year about this time we get inundated with refugees from Arizona ('zonies for short). My point to you is don't complain about the heat, do something about it. Drive to San Diego. We'll take your money. No problem. Why should the 'zonies have all the fun?

Sounds like it's hot enough to cook a "Steak" on the sidewalk.
