Making the Most of... Sharing

We all have things we no longer use, right?

  • In our closets
  • In our garages
  • In our basements

What are you doing with all those things you no longer use?  If you are like most people, those things are just sitting around collecting dust.

Well, here are some suggestions to make the most of sharing:

Freecycle – This is an online community, broken down by state and city, where you can freecyclegive away things you no longer use or need.  Not only can you post offers of free clothing, DVDs, household goods, and more, but you can also post wanted messages if you are looking for something specific.  What a great way to ensure that someone will get even more use out of the items.   Everything is sent out via e-mail so you must subscribe to the list you are posting to prior to sending your message or you won’t see it come through.

Craig’s List – If you are interested in posting items for sale, Craig’s List Craig's Listis for you.  Beware of scams on Craig’s List, though!  You can find or sell anything imaginable – from items in your house to jobs!  The neat thing about Craig’s List is that you have specific categories that you can post your items in, and it walks you through the entire process.  This makes it very easy for someone looking for a specific type of item (or job) to find what you’ve posted.  You can receive replies via e-mail or provide a telephone number for replies.

Don’t let what you’ve got in the back of your closet just collect dust – sharing allows you to give without spending more money.  But sometimes what you’ve got is just what someone else needs.

So go ahead and make the most of sharing today!

Emcee - What a great post.  I did not know about Freecycle.  I found myself donating my unused items to charity.

I use Craigslist a lot, however I have not heard about Freecycle either. I am very interested to see how this compares. Thanks for the information

Emcee,

Thanks for sharing these websites. I have used Craigslist to give away things several times. Each time, the recipients were extremely grateful.  I was happy to know that I could bless someone.

Have a great day
Leander
