My owner is a Marketing & Business Consultant in San DiegoI'm one of those weird people who makes a great effort to return comment for comment.

You comment here, I visit your place and comment.

It normally is an easy system.

I usually also get an email notification when a comment shows up in any blog post.

Lately, the ActiveRain system is not working so well. Many comment notifications are not showing up on my home page nor am I getting many of the email notifications.

I will endeavour to keep track when I answer comments in my posts, but if I miss you, please come back and let me know. Right now I'm visiting people who visited me on February 7, so I'm about 15 days out, but I will get to your place to visit, and if I don't, again, let me know.

Hi Russel, I'm seeing the same thing. Comments I leave are not showing up on my page and I'm not even getting all the email notifications either. And BTW, you are not weird for wanting to do comment to comment. I do that as well. :)

Russel, that's one of the nicest things you do is comment back to your followers!  Thank you!

Hi Russel, you are the very best I've seen of anybody to respond to each comment.

Oh, one more thing? Do you think Liz would like 34 comments? or did the send button stick? Always wondering about something......

It did stick and I'm deleting them as quick as possible.

Russel,

Let me do you a favour. I have left a few comments. Never mind "one 4 one", just make one comment and consider yourself all caught up.

Otherwise, you're running too far behind.

Good luck!

Brian

Russel,

I've also noticed that I'm not receiving AR notification for all of the comments left on my blog.  I've gone back to older blogs and paged down to see if there are any new comments.

Russel, I don't print them out but I do try to return comments as much as I can.  I'm almost hitting a 20,000 comment mark....which is some serious commenting :)

Oh man Russel, no sweat you don't have to return this comment just seeing your fuzzy closet organizer in the post is enough for me!

He is a machine. The other day he posted what seemed to be every two hours all night long with a 4 hour break ( I assume sleep) before his next post later Sunday morning.

Hi Russel, I'm experiencing the same same thing! I had a good system using my email but since all the comments aren't there, it has been tough.  I'm rather fanatical about it, so the missing notifications are really throwing me off!

Hi Russel, I try to do the same. Sometimes it's hard to keep up as I have a list of folks I subscribe to and try to comment on as many of those as possible too. Like Mary - I used to rely on my email notifications, but that has been hit and miss lately.

Hi Russel,

I'm not getting comment notification either and I like to respond to all mine too. Would you know if someone going to do something about it? Of course, you won't know I made this comment so why am I asking? :)

I try to do the same! I commented on a post of yours and you just found me and commented on one of mine.  Thanks for the visit.

What ever system you are currently relying on is working. What is your AR Spreadsheet?

Russel, you are a spreadsheet maven! That has to be how you handled the Nature & Marketing contest so masterfully :)

Hey, Jackie - Actually, I think probably 80% of the people here make a sincere effort to return comment for comment.

Hey, Lee and Pamela - Thanks for your kind words.

Hey, Liz - There are some blogs where I also like to camp out.... I think you know what I'm talking about.

Hey, Marilyn - I got those 34 email notifications before I ever got over here to see what was going on. I suspect it was those darn proxy errors again.

Hey, Brian - Thanks, but as long as people like you continue to have interesting blog posts, I'll continue visiting and commenting.

Hey, Rick - That's what I'm going to have to do, but it is somewhat cumbersome.

Hey, Jim and Maria - Maybe that is why this AR person finds AR to be such a cool place - -LOL.

Hey, Cynthia - I do. I find the time because my wise old grandmother taught me at the tender age of 11 that I would always have time to do to those things that I do first. So I have a spreadsheet that prioritizes my life for me. Of course, when my friends see all my spreadsheets, they laugh at me. But that's okay. They are laughing in jealousy.

Hey, Carole - I'm at 7,627 comments here, but if you add these comments to my home inspector profile comments, I'm at 18,944.

Hey, Cynthia - My fuzzy closet organizer gets up there once a month. The funny thing is that she sees the hangers as a platform on which to land. Doesn't always work.

Hey, Eric - Frankly, it seems that some things have broken down while the ActiveRain Staff has been out doing lots of Raincamps. Not sure if there is a true correlation, but there seems to be.

Hey, Troy - Excel spreadsheets are my key. I started out with Lotus 1-2-3 and then switched to Excel when Microsoft offered to give it to me free if I would give them my Lotus 1-2-3 disks, so I did. Microsoft was on a roll then, so I took their free products and bought their stock.

Hey, Eric - I'm a true catnapper. The longest I ever sleep is 3 hours normally, 4 hours if I'm really tired. That makes it difficult to go traveling because I don't know what there is to do in another city at three or four in the morning.

Hey, Mary - I gave up on the email notification system back in December 2008 when there was a serious breakdown in notifications. We would get no notifications at all for a couple of days, and then 300 email notifications would show up within minutes of each other. I had to find a better system. As with many things in life, depending on third parties can play havoc with one's own life and business.

Hey, Sally and David - Guerrilla Marketers learn that it takes 21 times. The key is to speed up the process or short-circuit it.

Hey, Debi - I never got into the subscription thing mainly because I've been returning comment for comment since day one.

Hey, Toni  - Usually when these things happen it means that they are adding new servers, new services, benefits, etc. I'm sure it will settle down shortly, but I've always thought that it would be nice if the Staff would tell us what was going on. I even volunteered to keep a special ActiveRain blog for just that purpose, but the Staff never took me up on it.

Hey, Cara - My spreadsheet is simply Excel. I've been using Excel since around 1987 or so. I'm pretty much an expert at making it do what I need it to do.

Hey, Barbara - I know we're not the only ones.

Hey, Frank and Sharon - I could not have run that Nature & Marketing contest without Excel. It was my right-hand person.

Hi, Russel. How could I not comment?! You set the standard for returning comments and I'm always glad to hear from you.
