Moving to Cypress, TX and Need a Good Daycare?

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams - BV 581856

I have clients who will be moving to Cypress, TX this spring.  They need to find caregiver options for their two young children, AND they need the facilities to be reasonably close to the METRO PARK AND RIDE located at Highway 290 and Skinner Rd.

Though, I do not have personal experience with any of the facilities mentioned below, I have heard GREAT reviews via our neighborhood Yahoo group.  I have included excerpts from these reviews in order to help my clients and hopefully, those of you who find yourself needing to secure quality childcare in Cypress, TX.

(1) Cypress Learning Center "was good for before/after school care. I doubt I
would send my child there for preschool, for they don't have a curriculum
like Primrose. The nice thing is that Cypress Learning Center has a huge
yard for playing and their own pool for swimming. On days that school is not
in session, many times they take a field trip. After school the kids have
 time to work on homework."

(2) Primrose: "I would agree with the good reviews of Primrose.  The facilities are clean, the teachers are well-trained, and the curriculum is outstanding. I never worry about my kids' safety when they're there. And my kids often want to stay longer when I come to pick them up. And lately they've been getting up early so that they can make it to Primrose earlier! I seriously think that if I let them, they
would like to stay there 6:30am to 6:30pm."

No matter what you choose, make sure you check out the Texas Department of
Family Protective Services' report on the facility:http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Child_Care/Search_Texas_Child_Care/ppFacili\
tySearchDayCare.asp.
Any time an incident happens at a facility or something is
caught in a routine inspection, it will get reported there. Sometimes it's
something as simple as one child didn't have a dr. listed in his paperwork.
Sometimes you see things like kids being left on the playground. I haven't found
a daycare with a completely clean report yet, but you can tell by looking at the
reports exactly what kind of daycare you're truly getting.   Our daughter, who is now nine years old,has attended Primrose since she was three years old and we love it.....so does she.....if I'm there before five
o'clock, she often asks me if I can come back later to pick her up! They let kids be kids....they get time outside to play on their outdoor activity sets and they have lots of toys, crafts and art supplies for the kids too to foster creativity. The people that work there are very friendly and accomodating and very involved with the kids...my daughter has loved all her teachers.  It may be a little more expensive than other places, but it has been well worth the money - she has ALWAYS enjoyed being there.

As a side note, for anyone considering Primrose as a day care before their
children are in elementary...when my daughter started kindergarten at Sampson Elementary,
her teacher asked if she had gone to Primrose.....she said "You can always tell the kids that went to Primrose - they're ahead of most the kids".Primrose's Pre-K teaches the same things they teach in public kindergarten, so they're usually ahead of the game by the time they get there. It's such a great day
care/school...again, as you can see, we love it!"

(3)  St. John's Lutheran **"We would highly recommend it.  The academics were great, the teachers caring(alot of them are moms from Coles Crossing) and it was a wonderful Christian atmosphere.  They
treat you like family.  The kids not only learned on the academic side but also
on the moral side."

**"We also loved Saint John's!!!!Both of our kids had a great experience there! I
especially liked the Christian atmosphere and the caring teachers!"

Thanks, Judi! I LOVE our neighborhood Yahoo! group.  People post items for sale, repairmen they have been pleased with, suspicious activity spotted in the neighborhood, etc.  One neighborhood resident must volunteer to be "the moderator"...the one who sets up the group and provides guidelines.  It has been a wealth of information for us!!

Karen, thanks for your kind words.  It is good to know there is quality care nearby!!  Sometimes, it is hard to find!!

Sonja, great info on the local daycare center, where to check for reviews and the link to the state to check on the daycare center reports. My mother used to run a small daycare for infants, so I kinda can relate even though I do not have kids. Finding the right provider is very important.
