Are you a frugal home seller, wondering whether home staging a good investment? We know a couple that thinks it is! They invested less than 1/2% of their home’s listing price to have Gloria Home Staging prepare their home for sale, and 8 days later, they had an offer.

An investment is defined as “something given or lent for a return.” The old saying that you have to spend money to make money usually holds true. Spending a few hundred dollars (or even a couple of thousand, in many cases) in order to sell your home for full price is a wise choice. Any price reduction you will have to take if your home does not sell quickly will certainly be far more than even 1% of the listing price.

Great post!  Home staging is much less expensive than renovating and can have the same effect: "Appealing to a wider variety of buyers."  Bringing in a home stager can help to take a home owner's personal taste out of the equasion and help buyers see more potential in the home.

Thanks for sharing!

I'm sold and have done many posts on why it is so important.  Buyers have no imagination anymore on where furniture should be placed.

Another beautiful job ladies!  Of course, that was worth the expense.  8 days on the market is amazing.  Thank you for sharing!

I think home buyers would have a difficult job figuring out how to layout the furniture in the great room without the benefit of home staging. Very nice job and nice photos!

Great return on their investment when you think about the first price reduction is usually 10% of the list price Laurie. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for commenting, Lori. It's always lovely to hear from people who "get it!"

Thanks, Lyn! Keep spreading the good word!

Hi, Chris! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The owners are, needless to say, very pleased, and say they're sure that the staging was a key part of their successful sale. Yay!

Thanks, Michelle! You're right, the great room is a tricky room - very long and narrow. Before we staged it, about the only things in it were the bookcase and a lot of toys. The furniture "grew it up" and made sense of it. Very satisfying!

Thanks, Kathy! 8 days certainly does help our stats: our average DOM is now down to 19 days. We're very excited about that!

Hi, Karen! This blog was inspired by a proposal we were working on, where the realtor asked us to go into depth to justify our fee to his client, who is, um, well... frugal. We figured out that the fee we were proposing to charge comes out to less than .05% of the home's listing price. It seems like a bargain to me, especially in light of the results for the home owners in this blog. (Okay, so we're also suggesting wallpaper removal and painting 2 pink bedrooms, but even that will add up to way less than that 10% price reduction they'll likely have to take if they don't do it.) Thanks for chiming in!

Thanks, Cathy! We're really excited about it. It's like having a child do well in a play or recital or something.
