HELP! What does it take to catch a lizard in your house?

I think it is probably 12" from head to tail. He loves bananas, my grand baby's cereal and probably cat food. He lives somewhere in the guest room and craft room and only comes out at night. He really has made himself at home. I think he has been here for about 3 months. I don't know where he came from but he needs to go.

We have set traps all over the house and have been unable to get him. Seriously, I have to get him out of my house! My son and his wife are here with our grandson and have resorted to sleeping on my couch in the living room! She can't take it and neither can I.

Any suggestions? You would think with 3 cats we would not have this problem.....but then, does this one look like he wants to hunt? The other one is 22 and the newest addition is just getting acclimated.

Stephanie - Yuk.  Lizards are definitely not my favorite.  Even the little ones make me shiver.  I don't have any methods to offer - best of luck!

Wow!    I thought I had a problem when the otters decided to "nest" outside my basement door (could smell that dead fish all through the house!).    Love your cat photo...I have a lazy one, too.

Hi, Wanda.  How about trapping it.  You can put bananas and its favorite food in a trap--when it goes in the door shuts.  However, I don't know where to get this contraption.  lol

I have lizards, too.  Good luck.

Wanda, I'm sorry but I vote the lizard stays and the guest have to go. The lizard was there first, right? The lizard is quiet, keeps to himself, and is very clean in that he sheds his skin periodically. The lizard is probably just hanging out until he secures another acting gig.

Steph, you stole my thunder. I thought your answer would be a cat, but I see I was wrong. You might try one of those trap cages where they go in and the door shuts after them. If you prime that with a delectable treatg you should have him by morning and can tghen let it go in a nice environment outside. GOOD LUCK

I vote with Bob Harris (comment #4). Zoey the Cool Cat does a great job of finding them when they get into my home. She's looking for work. Maybe you could hire her. Her fees are very reasonable: tummy rubs, play time, a tablespoon of food, and a place to poop. LOL
