A friend of mine posts amazing pictures on Facebook from all over the world. I've asked her if I could share some of them with the community but I want to get more facts about where, what, when, how of the photos. That being said we'll start with as simple landscape that probably doesn't have as much meaning as some of the other shots I want to post.
David, Wow! Thats a very interesting photo taken from an unusual perspective. It looks like the water is moving in a couple of different directions. It would be even more dramatic if the sun was shining on it.
So what is the meaning of this one, or where was it taken. I have recently written about the importance of photography. We have so many visual images that we are inundated with daily. It is just so nice when we can be stopped in our tracks to see a beautiful shot.
Very cool photo. There is something to the old adage: a picture is worth a thousand words.
Great angles, colors, and contrasts - looks like it should be two different pictures. Thanks
David,
That is a great shot. very cool how the water is flowing in two different directions
Hello Dave and all! Thanks for the great comments on this photo. I am so glad Dave is able to find a medium to share some of these frozen moments in time. What's the use of taking photos if no one ever sees them? This is a shot taken in New York at the Croton Dam. What I like about this photo is that this angle shows the calmness of this winter day, at the moment when the water begins to rush over the edge... and on the other side of me, will drop 40 feet into a river (eventually flowing into the Hudson River). What you can't see from this photo was the 10+ sizes and shapes of dogs romping around the bridge where I am standing. On Sundays dog-walkers like to come here with a cup of Joe from the Black Cow cafe, because dogs run wild off-lease in joyful abandon of their human companions. It's my chocolate lab's favorite run in all of NY, and mine too because my hands are leash-free to snap some photos. Can you tell why I liked the way this photo captured both chaos and calm? This one was taken on a Nikon D3000. Thanks for all the feedback, and Dave- feel free to chose any photo you like to post.
Brady - Thanks for stopping by to provide some info on this shot. I love it.
