AN: Our poor tree had its branch actually yanked by a 53ft trailer that was backing in the next door driveway to make a delivery. It was a one way and the felt they could back in. WRONG:(

JOHN: What a shock that must have been for you.  Unusual snow and a tree casualty. My tree didn't see this truck coming.ryder truck

That's a common sight this year with all the snow and ice. Hope it recovers! Have a great day!

Kathleen, that's going to leave a scar. Try a good garden shop for special covering that will cover the spot so that the tree doesn't get infected by bugs or start to decay. Can't use conventional tar as the mineral spirits will kill the tree. Good Luck

ROB: We see so much of this happening to trees by the weight of the ice/snow, but this tree was damaged by an inexperienced trailer driver trying to back into a very narrow driveway.

ED: I appreciate your tree advice. My grandfathers or even my Dad would have been out there saving the tree. They were the gardening and tree experts. I do hope this tree will survive the trauma it has been through

CHARLES: I do feel badly when I see trees come down due to storms or acts of nature but this could have been avoided if the driver was an experenced truck driver. Backing into a one way narrow road is not too smart.

Hi Kathleen,  We have windstorms here that attack our 100+ year old olive trees, and we lose branches if we don't keep the trees properly pruned.  Whenever we have a branch break or we cut one off, we paint it with black tree paint.  You can get it at your garden store, and it will save your tree from the infections that occur from wounds like the one in your photo.

SUSAN: I appreciate your advice. Thank you for sharing the possible remedy for saving my tree. I will check my local garden shop for that paint.

I hope this tree will survive. That was one big truck! Were your neighbors coming or going? Agree about the black tree paint!

DICK AND DIXIE: My office is next door to our Lincoln School Administration building and they were receiving a delivery by some an inexperienced driver, who thought he could back into a one way narrow driveway instead of coming in the main parking lot on the other side. "duh"

AL and PEGGY: There was a lot of damage that could have been prevented if the driver had used his head and not back into a one way narrow street with a 53 ft trailer. Ed gave us good advice we do hope the tree survives.

(>_<) ...it looks like the School or their delivery company is going to be on the hook for the services of an aborist. Perhaps the local school board has one on staff?

Good luck Kathleen.
