Tammy, You must have had a good time finding these photos. Adorable..I have a feeling there are more where this came from.
Great Picture Tammy. We got a light snow at our farm in Bonifay Florida but it didn't stick.
Tammy, nice picture and memories. We had 3 inches yesterday here in Georgetown(central Texas), a rare snow that actually covered the ground. The kids across the street made their first snowman. I bet they will remember it 37 yrs from now too!
And 2 pretty cool snowmen you guys made too !
(I bet many cant spot the second snowman in this picture ;o)
Hey Tammy -
That's so cute! We had 1/52 of an inch of snow this week. I don't think that I see the second snowman. Are you holding him and biting off his head? Obviously, Sheldon's vision is better than mine..

What a great picture for posterity. I know we had snow in the 70s. I was a kid at that time. I wonder if it was the same year. It makes sense that it would be.
Tammy, those old pictures are great. Do you think in 37 years the pictures we take today will "look old" somehow? I am betting they will.
You are really breaking out the nostalgia. Here in NY we'd call that georgia blizzard a light dusting. ;-)
Eating snow is fine, just avoid the yellow stuff.
I see the second snowman! That was tough ... Next to the tall girls left leg.
Tammy, I can see both snowmen but barely, the snow blinded me... great photo thanks for sharing!
Robert- Hey the date on the photo helped me remember the exact day, how the snow tasted... most likely like dirt as much as we played in it.
Margaret- I love old photos and have been getting boxes of them from my mom to scan and save on cd, it certainly has been fun. But this way my brother and I can both have copies of them NOW, not later when mom won't be around to tell us who's who when we don't know.
Wayne- this was the "perfect storm" so to speak. An artic cold blast from the north and gulf moisture just colided over my town and it snowed 23 inches. The most in recorded history at this location. Glad I was around for it.
Sheldon- if not for his little beadie face I bet you'd be right. The other girl was my neighbor at the time.
Sara- Don't feel bad, the photo is quite faded, but his little face is to the right about wrist high to the girl on the right.
Lisa- I bet it was, it didn't snow in Atlanta, but started south of there. I'll have to ask my mom, I had an Aunt and Uncle that ran a shell station that lived in New Smyrna at the time.
Charles- I'm sure something will date them Charles, paint colors, furniture, clothes, something. But you know, my daughter wore that coat I'm wearing.
Philip-ewwwwww, I know a few times we've brought it inside and put syrup on it over the years. And really 23 inches a dusting? WOW.
Paul- Good eye.
Joanne- good eyes. One of these days I hope my own daughters gets a "big" snow
Hi Tammy, That was a really big snow and such an adorable photo. I'm surprised that you get snow at all, but here's the proof !
I had a feeling you were the one eating snow!
great photo
your friend in Charlottesville Virginia!
Mary- we usually get just enough to turn things white about every three years on average. Generally speaking the tempatures are warm enough the very next day to melt it all, so we have one pretty day and one moring of sketchy ice patch roadways and then it's back to normal. That snow in '73 was just before my 8th birthday and I remember school being closed for a week. I missed it. I always loved going to school and my 3rd grade teacher to this day I still credit for my love of books and reading. She read the Pippi Longstocking books to us and I've loved to read everything I can get my hands on ever since.
Tammy...there's nothing like snow when you are growing up....we used to stay up almost all night waiting for the flakes to start falling. I'm glad you still have the photo. Hope you have a great day!
A big snow storm is becoming too much of an every day occurrence up here in the NorthEast. You are lucky you don't see them too often.
Rob- I really had a great and happy childhood filled with great memories. I'm pretty sure we weren't expecting THAT much snow and who knows if we'll ever see that much again. My mom's dad was a photographer so my mom always took lots of photos. I love that I have copies of most of them.
Morgan- very lucky. In fact, I'd take last winter over this one any day. It was unusually warm, this one has been ultra cold. I NEVER remember making it through February without hitting 70 at least a couple of days in my life.
You know, that does look hilarious from a Minnesotan's point of view. But, what a great photo!
