Dirty Dave's Pizza in Olympia

One of the most unique pizza places you will ever step foot in, Dirty Dave's Pizza is legendary in Olympia. Don't let the name fool you. Officially known as Dirty Dave's Gay 90's, there are obvious assumptions that could be made. I think ol' Dave purposely named his place something mysterious in order to drive away patrons lacking a sense of humor. There is nothing dirty about this place, other than the looks you might get if you come in with a bad attitude. And though Dirty Dave has a great sense of humor, there is nothing funny about the food.

Dirty Dave's menu is loaded with options. The pizzas are classic thin crust pies with Dave's special sauce. If you're going the pizza route, you have to try the Gay 90's Special. Toppings on the Gay 90's Special include pepperoni, sausage, onions, and....cashews. Cashews on a pizza? Lets just say it is unimaginable, but trust the thousands who have gone before you and had their taste buds titillated. They always come back for more. And for all of you cheeseheads out there, give their 3-D pizza a try. The pound of cheese on this deep dish pizza will help you kick the habit once and for all, or at least until tomorrow.

If pizza isn't what you had in mind you can try out the wide selection of pastas, salads, steamer clams, or sub sandwiches. I think Dave, at some point, felt like he didn't want to box himself in as a pizza place. Well, he achieved his goal of flexible dining with the addition of "The Jake". This sub sandwich may lead to addiction, so consider yourself warned. Ham, Salami, Pepperoni and cheese, lettuce, tomato warmed and drizzled with mouthwatering sauce. Order two, you never know.

For all its tough guy appearances though, Dirty Dave's Pizza is actually a true family establishment. It is rare to come to Dirty Dave's and not see a youth sports team celebrating a victory. With 2 banquet rooms and an arcade room, Dirty Dave's Pizza is half pizza parlor half party destination. Kids are magically drawn to the arcade and the retro quarter-toy machine with the clucking hen. It never fails that if you go to Dave's with someone under the age of 12 you will be asked for quarters.

But Dirty Dave's Pizza isn't only entertainment for the kids. The walls are littered with comical posters and other funny relics of the past. So, while the kids go play you can kick back with a pitcher of Bulldog Ale and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Dirty Dave's Pizza in Olympia is somewhat of an anomoly in today's world of commercialized expectations. It stands out for its unwillingness to be made bland. It is bold and controversial, yet welcoming and extremely tasty. Dirty Dave's Pizza is everything you've been holding back. Go liberate yourself, and order a pizza while you're at it.
