25 Recruit Bird Dogs
Like a hunter's canine friend, a real estate bird-dog is someone who "scares up" leads for an investor. Prepare a short agreement outlining the type of leads you seek and compensation. Pay per referral, per hour, per acquisition, or by profit sharing. Recruit your children, real estate agents, property inspectors, mail carriers, taxi-drivers, property managers, other investors, auctioneers, exterminators, attorneys, contractors, movers, courthouse clerks, etc.
26 Build Your Brand
As cattle are branded to show ownership, you can brand your business to convey a unique position in the marketplace (e.g. Volvo = safety.) Branding creates recognition, legitimacy, and an implication of quality. In a word, what do you or your business stand for? Think carefully about what you represent, and then create a "style sheet" (set of graphic design standards) to build a unified look to all of your marketing materials that tells prospects who you are and what you do.
