North Wildwood Waterpark and Hotel

Great things are in store for the Wildwoods.  North Wildwood City Council approved a 90,000 square-foot pirate-themed indoor waterpark where Seaport Pier now stands.  Construction will include a water park on the east side of the Boardwalk between 22nd and 23rd Avenues and a 16-story 425-room hotel on the west side. There will be an overhead walkway linking the two properties.  Also planned is 3 restaurants and a 600-car parking garage.   If the project receives all the necessary approvals, it could be open in 2010.  This could bring 300-400 year rounds jobs to the area besides all the construction jobs.  Groundbreaking is expected in 2008.  This could be a winner.  Stay tuned.

Joyce,

I really believe the indoor water park will be a big winner.  There is a company which builds resorts under the name "Great Wolf Lodge".  They are always busy and command a premium.     I'm just not sold on the whole pirate theme concept.....

In spite of that, I still see this project as one that can succeed.

I don't really have an opinion about the pirate theme.  I do hope, however, that it does bring year-round jobs and more year-round business to the local communities.  I think it's a step in the right direction.
