This Saturday February 27, come on down to Asheville NC's Crowne Plaza Tennis and Golf Resort to see Step Groups from the Southeast perform as part of UNCA's Homecoming Weekend, sponsored by UNCA's Black Student Association. "Step It Out 2010: Go Hard or Go Home" will feature Step groups from the Southeast competing in this art form popularized by historically black fraternities, feature high-energy synchronized dance routines, comprising elements of African dances and military exhibition drills. Admission is $5 at the door.
I love dance and really enjoy the energy in ALL forms of dance and movement. If any of you remember Spike Lee's "School Daze" you'll remember Laurence Fishburne and his frat brothers doing the step competition. Well like alot of things in life, when people find something they like they copy it, and now the essence of step has increasingly found its way into the mainstream.
Here's a brief intro into Step, but to really get the flavor, and have a great time for less than the price of a movie ticket, go to Asheville's Crowne Plaza Tennis and Golf Resort Saturday, February 27, 8pm. I'll be there!
