Mary Pope-Handy, contestant in Project BloggerJuly 31st is coming up fast and I know that I'll be seeing several of you at Bloggers Connect on August 1st and the reception the night before on July 31st. I'm thinking we should do some sort of dinner after the reception on July 31st. What do you say?

I live an hour south of The City but it's easy enough for me to find a place if some of you good folks would like to get together. I need at least a rough idea so I can try to find a restaurant brave enough to take us on, assuming we're more than a half dozen people (in walking distance to the Palomar, preferably).

Let me know if you'd like to be counted in. Please email me (responding here is good too but I'd like a cell number) to Mary (at) PopeHandy.com and confirm the # and a cell.

Many thanks.

And don't forget to Dress Warmly!!

I am trying to go. I haven't heard back yet if they are full! I left a voice mail about a week ago.... :( I'd really like to meet as many AR's as I can. What fun it will be!

Mary,

Would love to join you for dinner.  I will be arriving mid afternoon on the 31st.  About that dress warmly, I was discussing that with a few of the others just this week.  How warmly?  Warm or cold during the day?  How cold at night up there?  Thanks a bunch.

Debi - they are still advertising this thing so I believe they're not sold out. I'd call back TODAY and talk to a live person (your VM was probably lost).

Laurie - SF is moderate in that unlike the inland areas, weather does not fluctuate a whole ton between day and night, generally. The kicker can be the fog (and wind pushing it through).   A summer day/night there is like a mild winter day in Silicon Valley: lows in the mid 50s, highs in the mid 60s if you're lucky. So when you're walking from one buiding to the next at 8am, it might be 58 degrees. If you step outside to eat some lunch in the sun at noon, it might be 62 or 65 or if it's a really warm day, 70 degrees.

That said, SF does sometimes get a heat wave and that means temps in the 80s. It's weird when that happens but it does sometimes occur.

As Ardell said in another post, LAYERS. DO bring sweatshirts/jackets/windbreakers.

BTW only the truly brave (or impervious) go into the Pacific Ocean. The water is NOT warm in northern CA.

Hi Mary,

I'm not sure if I can make it as I will have to ask the gal I am riding into the city with if she wants to go... So, do you want to go?  LOL  You SOOOO know I will be there.  Bummer about Kevin, I was hoping we would see him before the event actually starts.  Ahh, well, the live of a busy Condo King... Next year, when I am the queen of Claremont home sales I will be in the same boat.

I am counting the days.  Imagine, Blogger's Connect and the final Harry Potter all within two weeks of each other, what are the odds... perhaps I should be buying a lottery ticket as well, clearly there is some Felix Felicis floating around here :-)

Have a super day!

Tisza

Hey Tisza - yeah that is a bummer that Kevin will miss the Bloggers and Beer part but at least he'll be there on the 1st.

Just found out yesterday that a cousin of mine (Ryan Slack of Property Shark in NY) will be at Inman Connect too! Haven't seen him in years so this is very very cool. You and I need to pin down our dates - sent you an email on that last night (did you get it?).

Can't wait...

Teri I REALLY wish you were coming. And Kelly Kilpatrick too. Haven't talked to her in eons, not since the AR party in Long Beach.

It's funny but I really do feel like this was a classic "bonding experience".

When 9/11 happened, I was in Seattle at a Windermere Symposium (I'm at Intero Real Estate Services now, not to confuse things). It was the first time I'd ever attended ANY real estate conference and I was in the biz 8 years already. ANyway, there were 5 of us up there from Los Gatos and of course we could not fly home (we did attend the symposium first...the show went on though we were all a little zombie-esh). Anyway eventually the 5 of us rented an 8 passenger van and drove home over about 16 hours, trading drivers every 2 hours. My goodness - how MUCH you share with that kind of an intense togetherness!!  I felt bonded to those folks in a really unique way - even now.

So too with Project Blogger. I'm a very bondable, touchy feely kind of Californian who wants to like everyone but honestly, I do feel connected especially to the other apprentices who were active in this and a few mentors too.

Maybe, Teri, you could fly out on stand by??? :)

I'm a very bondable, touchy feely kind of Ohioan. Californians do not have a monopoly on bonding. :)  I bond deeply, but perhaps more quietly than others.

I shared a car trip with 2 moms and our daughters to NYC- 12 hours in a van. The dads and sons drove in another van. I knew them and liked them before the trip, but we are bonded now. I completely understand. In fact, I need to get off here to meet them for coffee!

I completely agree that if you spent any time posting here, you bonded on some level. Since we are confessing: Several times I've had to stop myself from automatically signing a comment with "Love ya". It's like, "OH! Wait a minute, this is not a private conversation with my friend, oh yeah." It's safe to say I've bonded. Happily bonded.

Teri you are a riot. At least there's the edit button if you overdo it. On the other hand, there's no crime in being affectionate. Great story....

Mary,  Did you get an invitation in your email today from Trulia for the martini party after the beer party?  If not let me know, I am taking a head count to include in my response for how many I am bringing.  They are picking up the bar tab.

Laurie,

I don't know about Mary, but I didn't see anything like that yet.  I will be traveling with her and I think if you can count her in, you can count me in as well - everyone needs a designated driver, right?

Just thought I should let you know and I am looking forward to seeing you there,

Take care,

Tisza

Hey Tisza,

Joeann's referring to a reception that she and Fran will attend and you and I can tag along if we like. Or not. I have a feeling this whole thing is going to be very impromptu!! It'll be fun. Can't wait.

Mary- I was able to get into the conference. The were "overwhelmed" by calls and it took them 2 weeks to get back to me. In fact I even have a room at the Palace. (anyone need to share a room?)

I wasn't sure if your post was for just apprentices or not, but since I will be in town alone, I'd love to join you if I can. :)

I arrive on the morning of the 1st and will have to run like h#!! to make it from the airport to the hotel in time for the 8:30 AM start of the first panel with Ardell.

On the other hand, if you guys drink lots of beer at the meet-up the night before, y'all might be off to a slow start in the morning anyway.  <s>
