The West Ranch Town Council, which was reportedly re-elected recently by a grand total of 54 West Ranch area voters recently, is complaining that they have not been consulted by local officials regarding the Magic Mountain issue.

It's unclear how a "town council" that has not been elected or even ratified by a majority of the registered voters in the area can claim authority over this area. Even local Homeowners Associations require at least a quorum before considering an election to be valid - why is the West Ranch Town Council an exception to this rule?

While the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles should involve the community to some extent in updates regarding the Magic Mountain issue, it's unclear why a group that has not been elected by the majority of its residents should get special attention that other groups or residents do not receive.
