EventBrite - a New Way to Announce Open Houses

By

Who wants to have a secret Open House?  If you go to the trouble of planning an open house, you definately want to assure good attendance, which means using any means practicable to get more people to your open house.  Of course you want to use Facebook to announce your open house.

Constant Contact is another good way to let all your clients, friends, family, sphere of influence, and anyone else in your email list that you are having an open house.  When I joined Coldwell Banker, my manager, Darrin Friedman, was (and still is) a big fan of Constant Contact.  I tend to be skeptical of anything new, so I stayed away from Constant Contact for several months, but now I use it every time I get a new listing or hold open a listing.  It is a great way to keep your name in front of past clients and possible future clients by letting them know where you are working and how busy you are!

I just read about another way of announcing open houses.  Eventbrite is a useful event invitation tool which can be used not only for listings and open houses, but also for school events, charity fundraisers and any other events that you are involved with. You can offer free events or charge a fee and create tickets to sell.  You can even keep a running count of the remaining tickets available!  Besides the description, location and dates, you can add photographs, links, and videos. You can send invitations from your e-mail address book, Plaxo, or Outlook.

Eventbrite lets you promote your event with widgets, including an event calendar widget and day-countdown widget that you can add to your Web site or blog (make the widgets from the "Manage" section, under "Promote"). You can even include a vanity URL link.

Eventbrite also makes it easy for you to share your event invitation via social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, among others. You can even publish your Eventbrite invitation on Facebook.

I have just used it to publicize my open house at 4700 Connecticut Avenue, NW, which is a condo in a 1922 building, Parker House.  I will be there from 1 to 4 on Sunday. Now of course the only problem is finding enough time in the day to do all these things and still sell real estate!

If you would like more information about any of my listings, please contact Lise Howe at 240-401-5577 or check out my listings at www.lisehowe.com or www.dchomenews.com  If you have a home to sell, please give me a call or email me at lise@lisehowe.com and put my team to work for you!

Lisa, I like Twitter hashtags, too...like #somdopenhouse...but it's not mainstream yet. Twitter can forward as a text to Realtor's phones and thereby avoid the horse and buggy fax invitation concept.

Lise, I am so over Constant Contact!  It's one thing to announce a new listing, but a couple of firms are flooding my email with notices of every Open House, price change and now I usually just push "Delete" without reading them.  It's a good tool, but it can really get over-used.

I didn't think about useing this for announcing an open house.  We just did a class in our office & I used it for that.  Worked out great.
