Some of you may have heard this story;

A man struggles at work during the day, because his mind is preoccupied thinking about the endless battle with his lawn which awaits him at home.  He has got lots and lots of dandelions and can not get rid of them.  After trying all kinds of products, and seeking the advice of some colleagues, with no success, he decides to pay a professional to come and help.  He got the advice he never expected, and so the expert asked him the big question; Have you ever tried getting used to them?

Where is the parallel?  How many times have you cringed at the thought of having to handle a short- sale?  If you've had my luck, you may have even found your self trying to do the best possible job for your buyer clients to best maximize their now shortened dollar, only to find out that the listing agent has never handled a short sale.  Better yet, you list the property hopefully at fair market value, and suddenly get a phone call from a third party asking for information on your listing, and it is not until then you learn your sellers are in a financial hardship.  One of my least favorites is when a seller IS honest from the beginning, and discloses to you his/her current position with their lender, and an offer is negotiated between the buyer and the seller, you go to work yatta yatta, you've made contact with the negotiator, they order the BPO, and in the middle of the whole thing, the lender assigns the file to yet another collecting agency.

I must say, I learn something from each short-sale I am involved with.  I actually look for that one thing I get to take away after closing escrow.

Let's face it, the real estate market can be predictable if you've been around long enough (not that I have) and you pay close attention. With that being said, I will make a prediction to you all;  Short Sales are Here to Stay!  Try getting used to them!
