Add Buttons to Web Site
Yesterday afternoon, I spent 2 hours trying to figure out how to add buttons on my new web site. Active Rain makes it so easy for us with their widgets.
What I wanted to do was add buttons on the left side of the site so that viewers could search for listings from any page -- now, I realize that the web guy could have easily done this for me, but no -- I wanted to do it for myself.
The new web site is WordPressMu where each of our agent-owners and the managers will have their own site under the main umbrella -- I selected a theme with 3 columns.
In order to add the buttons to the left side, I needed to have html for the buttons --

Well, I do not know how to write html --
So, after my daughter, Liza Valero, told me that on the widget I needed to use on the dashboard was "text" (duh, I did not know that), I set to work on it.
Here is how I eventually was able to add buttons to my web site:
* copied the html form my Active Rain post
* pasted this in the "text" box of widgets
* downloaded the button photos from my hard drive as though I was putting them in a post
* on WordPress, when you download a photo, it gives you an http:// address
* copied the http:// address for the photo
* went to the widget section where I had pasted the html for that particular button
* replaced the "img" section of the html with the http:// address for the photo
* Voilla -- I had it -- and they worked.Yes, I did add buttons to my web site
