Spring has arrived in Newnan Georgia by Richard WeisserI went to preview a bank foreclosure for an out of state buyer yesterday. It was in a very rural area in the westernmost part of the county. And although it was chilly and a brisk wind was blowing, the sun was shining and it was a nice day for a drive.

The house was a bit of a disappointment, as it needed a lot more work than was expected, and that would probably keep it out of the buyer’s price range, There was termite damage and mold, much likely the result of water infiltration.

In addition the mechanical systems seemed to need repairs or replacement, making this particular property more of a project than a prospect. I took some photos to document the condition and then headed back to the truck.

It was that that I espied the glorious harbingers of Spring! There were clumps of the beautiful golden “jonquils,” as we call them in the south, in full bloom and announcing that finally, Spring is just around the corner!

And although these early birds typically bloom in February, this year has not been typical at all. It has been colder and snowier than I ever remember in my thirty-seven years of living in the area!

My attitude changed at the moment I saw these yellow blooms. I am rejuvenated, and ready for anything. My entire outlook on life is now one of excited anticipation!

Spring has sprung, and I for one, am glad!

Thanks for the floral shot. If you saw them there, can Spring be far behind here in Colorado? I am ready for some color on our landscape.

Hello Richard,   Thanks for the lovely pictures of the daffodils, I think. They are a sure reminder that spring isn't far away. What a sad world it would be without flowers.....

Certainly has been a wild winter...  It will be nice to have a little warm weather... but then it will get seriously hot again.

Our jonquils are starting to bloom, also,  We it was warm enough to do some spring clean-up in the yard today (usually it would have been "winter clean'up" but it's been too cold & wet!  The hellebores (also called Lenten Roses) are in full bloom, too!

Nothing like the bright colors of spring and the smell of dirt in the air to get your heart beating.

Richard - What a pleasant sight to greet you after seeing that house. A good sign of better weather to come, I'd say.

I'm sure spring is going to be a welcome relief to many around the country this year.  How nice that you were able to find this sign after the disappointment of the property.

Good morning Richard,

What beautiful shots! Spring is coming although we still may have some interruptions before we really get to enjoy the season. Isn't it amazing what a lift that bright yellow little flower can give?

I haven't noticed any blooms here in the north yet, but it feels lately winters grip is lessening.

I am definitely jealous - haven't seen any signs of first flowers here in Michigan - I love to garden and it would definitely have cheered me up to find these - thanks for the vicarious cheer up!

Spring really is coming! It's been a long winter here in Georgia -- I've enjoyed the snow as we've had more than usual, but I'm ready to see some flowers too!

Richard,  Thanks for the hope!  We are probably a week or so away from blooms...sure has been a dreary winter here in Northern Arkansas.  I am looking forward to the wild plum trees, redbuds then dogwoods!
