Canada's Bronze Medal Winners! - Vancouver 2010 Olympics

Congratulations to Canada's Bronze Medal Winners!

Bronze, not quite gold - and not platinum but studies indicate that athletes who won the bronze medal were significantly happier with their winning than those athletes who won the silver medal.  The silver medalists were more frustrated because they had missed the gold medal, while the bronze medalists were simply happy to have received any honors at all (instead of no medal for fourth place).

Some of our most beloved athletes were Bronze Medal winners on this go around!

Hi Liz, Clara Hughes is super, probably my favourite Olympic athlete of all time, but Joannie Rochette's medal is definitely the one that grabbed me by the throat this time.

Liz,

I agree and the same thing could be said of the silver medalists. I was annoyed at the interviewer who "chastised" our first medalist who won silver, for not winning gold.

Good Stuff!  Thought you might enjoy this!

April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day is a day celebrated in various countries on April 1. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, enemies, and neighbors, or sending them on a fool's errand, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. Traditionally, in some countries, such as the UK, Canada, Australia, and South Africa the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool".[1] Elsewhere, such as in France, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Russia, The Netherlands, Brazil, and the U.S., the jokes last all day. The earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be found in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1392). Many writers suggest that the restoration of January 1 as New Year's Day in the 16th century was responsible for the creation of the holiday, but this theory does not explain earlier references.
