Do you want to make a big impact on keeping our planet green? Try implementing some of these suggestions in your daily routine. It's a new year, make a resolution to incorporate one or more of these suggestions into your 2010 lifestyle.

•Ÿ  Grow an organic garden in your backyard. Plant  Marigolds in every other row as a natural pesticide to keep your garden chemical free

•Ÿ  Install gutters and a rain barrel to collect rainwater for your plants.

•Ÿ  Build a compost pile. Feed it: lawn clippings, leaves, vegetable scraps and coffee grounds. Keep the vegetable scraps small and it will turn into compost more quickly. Turn it 3-4 times a year and it will create the best fertilizer for your garden.

•Ÿ  Recycle old garden hoses by poking holes into them at intervals and then use them as soaker hoses for trees or your garden.

•Ÿ  Construct a clothesline and retire your clothes dryer. This saves energy and the sheets and towels smell of fresh air instead of chemical softener sheets.

•Ÿ  Carpool to school or work, or even ride your bike.

•Ÿ  Plant a tree or two. If your yard is full offer your tree planting skills to an elderly neighbor.

•Ÿ  Initiate a recycling program at work or school.

•Ÿ  Volunteer with a local area clean up. The Austin Parks Foundation has clean up days several times a year. If you volunteer for a clean up they normally provide a T-shirt and lunch for all participants.

Dear Kristin,

I am glad you stopped by. Feel free to recycle these tips for people in your neighborhood!

;)

Dear Russell,

Thanks for popping by! I am back part time. I have been named the Retail Ambassador of Beanitos. So I am staying pretty busy doing real estate and selling Beanitos to the smaller mom & pop type stores!
