Oh, yes ... I've seen jellyfish before while snorkeling but never near enough to get stung. Did you take these pictures?? They're beautiful.
Hi Cynthia - I have been stung many times over the years...I love to snorkel and scuba dive....but normally you don't see them until you have been touched.....I took these photos at the Denver Aquarium this afternoon....they truly are beautiful. Thanks for your comments.
Beautiful looking jellies! Ya gotta just love 'em - from afar! You wouldn't wanna tangle with 'em!
Emelyn: What beautiful creatures jellyfish are. I have never been stung, but I hear it is quite painful.
Emelyn,
Those are great shots. Love the color and the different views. The middle one looks like and x-ray. :)
Steve
Aare those jellyfish or Man-O-War? And how did you get those photos? When I was a kid I got stuck in a swarm of jellyfish. It was horrible! But I now know the very unconventional ways of dealing with jellyfish stings. I posted them a long time ago. Maybe it's time for me to do so again =)
Jellyfish are sooo beautiful, but jeez, they sure are horrible to encounter in the water. Yowch!
Emelyn,
The colors and shapes are remarkable. Featured in "Speechless Sundays." Congratulations. :)
Steve
Chris and Myrl - they sure are pretty, but especially so in a tank away from my body! Those of us that have experienced being stung truly can appreciate them from a distance.
Lisa - I took these photos at the Denver Aquarium using my Nikon3000 DSL camera, 18-55mm lense and not flash. And I too am aware of the "unconventional" treatment....it does work! :)
Rick and Carissa - Ouch is right!
Steve - Thank you so much for your comments and a special Thank You for the feature!!!!
These are some really great shots. I've never been stung, either, but I have been near them in the water a couple of times. I like to admire them from afar.
Wow, I wouldn't want to be in the water with them, but they are pretty in pictures. Thanks for sharing:)

debi - you are right....doesn't apply just to jellyfish, does it?
Jim and Maria - I agree...so many times walking the beaches in South Carolina (Pawley's Island), I would find jelly fish washed up on the shore in the early morning....beautiful to see, but so deceiving as to the pain they can inflict.
Crystal ----they only hurt if you physically bump into them....and you are right, they are absolutely pretty in pictures.
Makes me want to grab some fins and a snorkle and head for a reef somewhere in the tropics. Sigh....
