The Olympic hockey finale between Canada and the U.S. belonged to history before the roars triggered by Sidney Crosby's overtime goal had faded.  Just when we were about to give up hope that Crosby would score another goal in the Olympics......he gave us a 3-2 Victory in what might be the last Olympic tournament that includes NHL Players.

It brings to mind the song This Land is Our Land - This Land is Your Land - from BonaVista to Vancouver Island.......And from a packed Canada Hockey Place on the Pacific coast to Crosby's hometown of Cole Harbour  in Nova Scotia,  we truly all rejoiced over the game that is OUR Passion!

Crosby said..."You dream of this moment 1,000 times growing up."  It very nearly didn't come true with the Americans fighting tough to the nail biting end.  When Parise scored taking the game into overtime with 24 seconds to go - we thought...."unbelieveable" - and not in the good way!

Brothers for the last time -the Canadian team sang O Canada - linked arm in arm......It'll be tough to top this Golden Moment!

Liz,

It was an epic game and the ending was perfect in a Hollywood script kinda way.

Liz, Hollywood couldn't have written a better script.  I loved every minute of the game, and I've only seen a bit so far. I had an open house and people kept coming in.  I did have a nice couple from Victoria watch with me for a while.

So it's all over? What do we watch on tv now?  I think people will be talking about these Olympics for a long time.

Liz,

My northern neighbor and dear friend.  Good game, spectacular and fitting ending, and pretty cool closing ceremonies too, eh. Thought about you while I enjoyed the two weeks.  Nice to have this in our own back yard.  Now they just need to add female mixed martial arts and your kid can get the Gold too.

Hi Liz,

I did remember you talking about the game on a previous blog so I turned it on with a minute to go with the US down 2-1.  What an exciting finish!!!  Congratulations to Canada on its gold medal in hockey(both teams) and for putting on such a great Olympics.  Russia has quite a high bar to match in 2014 at Sochi with all  the great excitement and atmosphere at Vancouver.  America is truly blessed to have Canada as its neighbor!

Hi Liz.  Nice to reconnect.  Wasn't that something?  I thought the tops of all of our heads were gonna blow off when that goal came at 26 seconds.  What a way to end a great Olympic Games!
