First-Time Home Buyer Mistakes

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Agents Realty

5 Common First-Time Home Buyer Mistakes

1. They don't ask enough questions of their lender and end up missing out on the best deal.

2. They don't act quickly enough to make a decision and someone else buys the house.

3. They don't find the right agent who's willing to help them through the homebuying process.

4. They don't do enough to make their offer look appealing to a seller.

5. They don't think about resale before they buy. The average first-time buyer only stays in a home for four years.

Dallas:

I completely agree with all of your points.  We have tried to do first time homebuyer seminars to educate those first time homebuyers but we continute to get a low response in attendance.  If we could just educate them, they would be so far ahead of the game.  I am not sure where the disconnect lies.  Perhaps they think it will be a hard sell if they show up.  That is never out intent, we just want to educate them on what to look out for and what questions to ask.

Dallas, I think the first one can be adjusted to mirror #3.  The right Mortgage guy/gal will take care of their client and be sure they get the best deal available.
