Frustration with Political CallsWe've been signed up on the Do Not Call List from the very first day it became available.  It's been a blessing, save for two things.  One is those cretins who ignore it and call us anyway - they get turned in promptly (it's quick and easy and you can do it online and it might even help get them to stop doing it).

The other, sadly, is one of the categories that is exempt - political campaign calls.  I've gotten lots and lots and LOTS of those over the past few days, always computerized.  Since I make my decisions on how to vote not based on party line but on the person and the issue, I certainly don't make it based on how many times some computer calls me and urges me to do so.

Although I've contemplated making an exception, in this case.  I've had it seriously cross my mind to keep a record of who calls me this way, ignoring the Do Not Call List and my expressed preference not to be contacted that way, just because they can, and NOT voting for them.  (Boy, do I really wish there was a "None of the Above" on every ballot - I've wanted this since the first year I voted, and I still want it!)

Now, given how I feel about this, how likely do you think I am to do cold calling, or to ignore the Do Not Call list when calling anyone on business?   In my opinion, I might as well go up to them with a big sign saying, "DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ME!"

Tricia, they call these "robo calls" and yes they are very irritating. They aren't going to change anyone's mind, unless its to vote against them!

Betty and John, I agree!  I even heard one of our longtime (as in, decades long) and admired radio personalities on our public radio station griping about them, and it takes a LOT to get him anything but mellow!
