I love search engine marketing! It's just so fun and exciting, new and thrilling. There's no "set" way to do it, so everyday's just like a big experiment. Google is constantly changing the rules, and for that I am thankful. It keeps things interesting. I especially love amassing new tools that serve me well, and get me one step further in winning the game of Web Marketing 101. I don't claim to know everything, but I do know that these tools help me get by almost every day.

Xenu Link Slueth - This tool is fabulous for checking dead links. You have to download it, but don't worry, it's not spam (as far as I can tell). It takes a little finagling, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be checking for dead links in no time.

Email Brain - My friend Bob Mutch at SEO Companygave me this idea. Email Brain is a wonderful email newsletter program that I highly recommend. I use it constantly. It works better, faster and is easier to maneuver than Constant Contact.

Keyword Top 10 Site Info- Here is another of Bob Mutch's creations that I use a ton. This tool tells you what the SEO Stats are for the top 10 - 50 sites of any keyword phrase you can imagine. This is a priceless tool in figuring out the Google algorithms of the hour.

Website Keyword Analysis- Okay, this one takes the birthday cake! I love it Bob! It's a keyword analysis that just works on its own. It's an SEO's dream come true. It automatically pulls the keywords from the site and generates other keywords that may potentially rank and then, as if that weren't enough--it tells you where your site ranks in Google, Yahoo and MSN. sweet! I'm not sure, however, if it tolerates misspellings as well as I'd like. For example, the word "websites" is separated as "web sites" in the tool, which is not the way people always type it in the query box, but I'm positive that will be worked out--if there's not a great reason already--knowing Bob.

DigitalPoint- I open my digital point account on a daily basis. In fact, it practically always stays open on one of my browsers. I'm always wanting to see how my client's websites are ranking for this and that keyword. So far it's the easiest system for tracking Google rankings.

Keyword Density Checker- I love this keyword density checker. This tool and others like it will tell you the lowdown on your website's keywords as Google, Yahoo and MSN see it.

MarketLeap - This is an old tool I've been using for a while, but has recently been replaced by faster tools. Still, I visit here now and again to see how my sites are faring. Recently, MarketLeap stopped offering the MSN link popularity ranking because MSN quit allowing it. Check it out. It's cool.

Alexa.com - Someone reminded me of this one in a blog comment. Yes. Alexa is outstanding. It is getting better and better. It's not a true teller of optimization per say, however, it's a great measuring stick. My favorite new feature is the backlinks it shows coming into your site with little photos of the inbound site. So cool.

URL Trends - This is a nifty tool for getting deep diagnostics about your website and for a quick re-cap of your website's SEO Stats. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Google Keyword Tool - This is a tool for finding the possible variations of keyword phrases people will use to find real estate in your area.

Great resources Jenna. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. These tools can be extremely helpful, but like you said it's changing all the time and if SEO is not ones primary business it is hard to keep up.

Thank you for keeping us in the loop.

Ciao!
