Southborough MA  - A  Relocation Destination

If a relocation to Massachusetts is in your future, the town of Southborough MA should be high on your list.  Located just 25 miles west of Boston and, with easy access to all major routes, the town has some distinct advantages as a premium commuting area.  

Southborough prides itself on keeping its distance from commercialism.  At the risk of offending MacDonald's and Wal-Mart - I have to mention that you will not find either of these establishments within the town's borders.   

There is rather more of a quiet, pastoral atmosphere which is reminiscent of its earlier beginnings as a farming community.  The town is still home to the locally famous, Galloway Belted Cows.

During the early days, Southborough relied on the Sudbury River as a source of power.  Now, the reservoir adds to the ambiance and makes up one quarter of the town's area. In your travels around town, you will easily find yourself driving across the tree-ringed reservoir areas complete with the occasional small island. 

The community is not, however, without its industry and is host to a number of well-known companies like EMC Corporation, Sun Microsystems and Genzyme Corporation.  

An important part of Southborough is its four historic villages:  Cordaville, Southville, Fayville and Downtown. 

Cordaville  

Located in the southwest part of Southborough, Cordaville had its start as a 19^thcentury industrial mill village and is now an area with houses that are a combination of older dwellings as well as newer neighborhoods, including Liberty Estates.  This part of town is also home to an MBTA Commuter Rail Station which was opened in 2002. 

Southville 

West of Cordaville is the village of Southville.  This part of town has some distinct historical buildings like St. Matthews Church and the Cultural Art Center. It is also home to a small artisan community which includes painters, potters and photographers.

Fayville 

Fayville is mostly defined by the reservoir and many parts of it enjoy lovely water views.  It includes a large area south of Route 9, Fayville Memorial Field, Fayville Village Center and even has its own post office. 

Downtown  

Southborough's center is also known as Downtown - its fourth village.  Main Street runs through this area which is the exact geographic center of town. Along with the town green there is a small group of restaurants, shops and professional buildings.  It is also the location of the 250 acre campus of St. Mark's, one of the oldest and most prestigious private schools in the area. 

Embracing a unique combination of rural ambiance and sophistication, Southborough was named Number 31 in the national CNN Money's 100 Best Places to Live in 2009. 

With excellent schools, great commuting access and some of the area's most desirable neighborhoods, the town of Southborough is a popular relocation destination in Metrowest Massachusetts.
