A Glorious Magical Day here in Old Del Mar. Back in the 1940's Bing Crosby penned the Famous words to the "Where the Turf Meets the Surf " music and it remains the theme song today for the Del Mar Race Track, Thoroughbred Club.

Brian Brady our own world renowned ActiveRain blogger, friend and inspiration to all in ActiveRain, organized what tuned out to be a Magical Day at Old Del Mar Race Track for the first Friday late day races of the season. We were honored with our guests and wonderful new friends Rudy Bachraty and Joe Ferrara owners of Sellsius on their "Blog Tour USA ". They were there to meet Brian and his nephew and all of us from ActiveRain as they were filming a documentary on the real estate industry across the US and in what direction it is headed. Rudy and Joes included many well known California ActiveRainers in the video Blogging Tour across the USA.

When I say magical I mean it!. Meeting the Stars from Active Rain, Laurie Manny, Kaye Thomas, Lynda Eisenmann, Marlene Bridges ,Vicki Lloyd, Jodi Nutt, Jeff Dowler, Roberta Murphy, and Kelly Kilpatrickwas a wonderful treat all by itself. We also met Brain's special guest ,owner Steve Hundely of heralded 1ParkPlace and new blogger with ActiveRain.

I am so bad at remembering all the names ( there were so many I didn't get a chance to meet and talk to and I hope they will forgive me for not including their names here. But it was a who's who of the Best in Real Estate and ActiveRain. Fortunately Jeff Dowler knew everyone and recorded all the names of those in attendance. Just shows what a difference experience can make. He is and I am still learning my way. Next time I will make sure I got everyone included.

I brought as my guests a new ActiveRainer, Denise Gleavey and her husband Skip and they were in the whirl of excitement as they took it all in at the racetrack from our infield location. I think Denise also got a boost from meeting and socializing with all the Greats of ActiveRain And Sellsious Real Estate Bloggers. She will be a winner right out from her 1st post that will appear very soon I am told.

Where to begin to tell you how incredibly enjoyable it was. We are all so grateful to Brian for putting this event together and for hosting the bar-b-que luncheon on top of it. Thank You so much Brain.

I am so full of excitement and enthusiasm for all that I experienced today, I am almost at a loss of words. Normally when I write I do so with great care. I am just trowing abandon to the wind and just letting it all flow of out me so that you can all be a part of a most wonderful day.

We all meet at the infield and Brian, the wonderful host he is, stayed out in the Valet parking area and waited till everyone was there so no one would get lost or separated from the group. The GREATS from Orange Countytook a train from Orange county to Solana Beach  and then a trolley Bus over to Del Mar Race Track. I am sure Marlene will be writing about the fun train ride and the many children that insisted on running up and down the isles on the train. I am sure that must have been enjoyable. But this was a day filled with joy and I am sure they just took it in as , oh well, " Let's party and show those little kids up".

I got to spend a few minutes of special time with Marlene Bridges as re-reminisced about our first meeting about 5 weeks ago. We just sort of hit it off and have build such a wonderful friendship. She being such close friends with Lauri, Kaye, Lynda and Vicki, it increased my share friendship as they have all become my new best  friends.

Marlene, Kaye and I tried our hand at betting and as lady luck would would say, "Better stick to Blogging". Yes, we lost all three races we bet on. We couldn't see  the horses from where we were so we were betting the dark (guessing). After losing race 6 and 7 we went to the betting window and asked if this as the line to give to charity. They said it was so we sort of suggested at this point it just didn't matter, so we bet on three more losers.

We knew the horses would feel better knowing that we had confidence in them to at least finish the race. To memorialize our attendance at Del Mar the losing horse owners of the last race agreed to call them, William's Filly, The Magical Marlene and Kaye the Magnificent. All that for our $18.00 and taking Photos with our name sakes was extra so we passed on that since we spent all of our money on having the losing horses named after us at the betting window.

We might have lost our bets on the horses but we all went home winners. With this group of ActiveRainers, how could you be anything else!

It was time to leave the infield and we all heading to the Sellsius tour bus to check it out. Rudy and Joe opened it up and the women in the group upon the invitation to come in, said "no thanks" , " these guys have been living on this thing for almost 2 months" and they would pass on the invitation. All but Marlene, she needed pictures so in she went. I saw her come out, a little green and shaken but she smiled and we knew she was OK. She got her pictures!. Just kidding around here, the Sellsius guys were great fun. Their documentary when their tour finishes should be very enlightening and entertaining from their BLOG TOUR USA journey. Joe and Rudy are totally awesome guys!

All in all a really fun wonderful day. As we were leaving, there was a concert going on the big courtyard area across from the O'Brian Hall. So we made or way to our respective transportation accompanied to lively music from what must been a great band concert.

Our day at the Del Mar Racetrack was over but the memories and new friendships will last a lifetime! Thank You again Brian Brady for making all this possible!

For the Rest of this fun Sojourn to Del Mar, see my fellow bloggers' entries.

Sorry this was so late.

Dedicated to Marlene and Kaye. Ok, they didn't win, big deal! But they look great, a bit dirtier than the others as all the horses in front kicks mud up on them. But they are ours!
In next to the next to last place is Kaye the Magnificent, followed by Magical Marlene and finishing up in last place is Willam's Filly. Somehow, the view never changes, even for my namesake, lol

Too funny Jeff! I figured everyone already did it all and this one would just be a " ho hum, is that all these California bloggers do is party", Yes, pretty much thanks! LOL We are all independently wealthy of course and can afford to just "go to the track" whenever we take a notion" NOT. At least me,lol

I started this on Friday night when I got home and hit a point where I was so tried , I just couldn't finish. A really busy day yesterday from early morning till late and then "OH, no, I have to finish my blog". I am just too tired !. So, it got posted today.

We had the best time and I am so glad you and I have met. It is gratifying to know you are reasonably close by. My classes start in earnest again Tuesday and there is a lot I am not getting dow n. Many resources to consider as well.

Thanks so much for seeing this and weighing in. Many Thanks Jeff!

Hi William,

I loved reading your post along with the others. You all did a wonderful job, and everyone got such great photos this time. For the OC girls contingent, the train wide was great.

Re-connecting with a few Rainers friends, and meeting others was a wonderful experience. William I am so glad that you have a photo of Denise and Skip, I loved talking with those two. It's amazing how much  you have in common...other than r.e. at times.  Denise also gave me valuable coaching on fund raising for the Leukemia Society. Those two have raised thousands themselves.

Lastly, to my new BF (Like Jeff, I'm working on my texting) meeting you was a blast. No doubt Kaye was right, you were the best dressed man at Del Mar!

Dear  Lynda, Being part of all this is so incredibly awesome. Because we write, as opposed to talk, it memorializes the true feelings that we each feel. When you consider that it would have taken years to accomplish something like this in any other format ( if possible at all). With all the people you have come to know, what a treasure the experience has turned out to be. For me, you and the group have become a true living part of my life's treasure and there is no gold more valuable or cherished.

Sincerely,
William

Dear Kaye,

As I think I might have said somewhere along the line, when I met Marlene  5 or 6 weeks ago, I thought ,how wonderful. To have met someone vey special that  I just clicked with in such a short period of time. When I saw your smile and your gracious way I knew once again I struck gold. You and Lynda and Lauri right along with Marlene, all being very different and unique, each have a shared quality that and a richness that makes me feel so special. Each of you go out of your way you to enable those that you touch. It brings a sense of great happiness deep within that is not usually attained but after after much longer periods of time. As I mentioned to Lynda, you are each a real part of my living treasure and one that I will  cherish always.

Sincerely,
William

PS, the picture of you and Laurie in the vid is worth a frame. Two beautiful women in a friendship that camera says is real and magical.

PSPS, I don't have an e-mail address to send Marlene the picture she asked for ( perhaps it was for you) of Cheryl Betyar. It was her going out of Office photo just a couple weeks before she was tragically taken away.

Hi Jeff, Many thanks for commenting. It was terrific.

I now understand what the red flag is for. When you want something to be considered for featuring, click the red flag and click on feature. How cool is that? I got a response from Caleb with ActiveRain. They will consider featuring when rated a 5 and the red flag recommends featuring. There are also a few members that have the power to recommend featuring. WOW. I am writing to write a post on it later.

The party was so awesome. You should plan one and be the leader for your area. If you don't have enough members, sign up some. They can provide points for you, sounds like a good plan.
