Back from Hibernation, the story of my new unwelcomed Dell Studio 15

Some of you noticed I have been away for two weeks or so. It was not planned. No, I did not go to a deserted Island without internet access. I had some Laptop Issues.

Change is good when you do it willingly on your own. Change is debilitating when it is done to you. So with that, I want to share with you the following experience.

I had a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop for seven short years. Then two weeks ago the dreaded blue screen came, two three hour sessions with Dell from midnight to three am and now, I am the proud owner of a Dell Studio 15 Laptop. Wow, going from Windows XP to Windows 7 what a day and night difference. I love it. Now I am glad my old laptop wanted to rest.

The speed, the colors, the many new features are just truly amazing. Now I am back on the Active Rain community as well as back with my posts and observations about the Real Estate Market.

It is truly amazing how dependent I have become to my laptop. For someone who hardly goes into his office, having all the technology at home, it became a challenge to take listings and input same to all the internet portals. I am accustomed to work late at night doing research for my clients, writing offers, as well as listings. Let's not forget writing blog posts, commenting on various social networks.  It felt as if I was on a deserted island without internet.

It is good to be back. Next I will be working on the Monthly Market Reports.

Endre...good ending to a very frustrating and business-interrupting event.  Sal has a Dell laptop; I do not like typing on a laptop; Sal's laptop is S-L-O-W loading; My PC is much quicker; neither of us has Windows 7--but I have IE 8; We also work from here & one of us needs to go to Windows 7 --hope I win that draw; Our problem is AT&T. just finished a session where "Your modem" needs to be re calibrated. Really. we didn't do that, we saw their horrible Red lights where Green should have been, many times last week, but it is still a 'problemem with your computers'. She was very sweet, and of course began apologizing as if she had personally done something.
Now that you have spoken, in such glowing terms, about the improvements, I am very excited to move to Windows 7 around here. Have a great week. This really was a fun post.

Barb, As this shopping spree took place I have learned the larger the memory on the hardrive and on the PC itself those are more important features then which name brand. I was feeling your pain as you described the  "modum" issues. I was also on the phone during this time with Verizon and all fingers were pointing to the Laptop:))

Wayne and Linda, thank you for your cheerful wishing, make sure you back up everything before the dreaded blue screen comes. I spent $125.00 with Best Buys's Geek Squad and I have to go back, we are missing the pictures and contacts they promised would be saved....

Toula, the wait is always frustrating, took four days to make it and then one day to ship it...at least you did not wait until the "dreaded blue screen:))"
