I’ve invited Boomer over to my back porch this fine 60ºF & clear morning here in Old Saint Paul…

…Why, exactly am I here, Jay. We have out of town out-laws, er—in-laws arriving this afternoon—and I’m expected to complete a very long honey-do list before they arrive.

If you’d keep still, Boomer, I could get this done! Since the “Codgers” broke up their act, I’ve found myself unable to re-establish my blog-voice. It used to be easy—if I was short on blog food, I could always get inspired by the guys at the coffee shop—or go into “our corner of cyberspace” and post from “Codger’s Corner.” But without the rest of the guys…(more)

Hi Jay,

I just went through a case of writers block..so all I was doing was posting my listings and my market reports lately. I just started to write again and I am still struggling a bit to get out the most in my writing. Last night I posted a localism piece and it was not easy..I also have another in the wings. Tonight I will be conducting a live interview with a person who is the star of a popular house flipping show and will include the transcript..hopefully that will also help me get out of my funk. You have more legit reasons not to write..but you are rpetty creative so I am sure it won't last too long.

Maybe you should join Sarah Cooper's "Writers Block" Group. :) We'd love to hear about something on your desk that keeps you sane. Now what, pray tell, keeps Jay Merton sane.

Loud and clear all the way on the west coast, Jay. Chances are, the muse will soon return, and whisper inspirational words in your ear... or a client will irritate you to the extent of providing at least a week's worth of material ;)

I think you should just make up new characters and start talking to yourself. Or...do interviews of your favorite bloggers. Or tour the blogosphere and find other people's blogs and report back to us.

Jay, that is sneaky, you are learning quick from everyone else that uses this technique to get people the their other site, who says you can't teach "Young Codgers" new tricks ........ LOL

Linda: If I do this, I won't be talking to myself, I won't be a character--they'll all be fictional. Boomer is pushing this idea.

George: Someone here on the 'Rain wrote that link-posts were akin to the old "bait & switch" sales technique, and shouldn't be done in blogs. That's all I need to read to propel me to write such a blog! If one is incapable of good content--then resort to the outrageous!

Ok, here's my $.02. You should invent your next character the way drag queens get their stage name.

The first name is the name of your first pet.
The last name is the name of the first street you lived on or use your mother's maiden name, which ever has more credibility. <that is a joke>

My stage name would be Jonny-Cakes Auster. I can't wait to hear Bob's stage name. :)

My stage name is Punky Broadhead. If you count a parakeet as a pet, I would be Chippy Broadhead.

Bom Chica wah wah...they are in the stock room of the Cafe... Alas, Boomer has a new branch to the geneology tree to write. Jay now has to document the reaction of the shocked patrons in the cafe. The names will come from the "human test-graphics" currently employed by AR. "Medlar Farkleberry" for example.

Jay, What a tale you could spin with just the names given here. You've got Earl Soaper, Jonny-Cakes Auster, Punky (AKA Chippy) Broadhead, Nugget Hogg (Sugarberry when on the porn circuit), Lance Hilton, Medlar Farkleberry, and mine, Kitty Clinton (now there's blogfood for sure!). We're anxiously awaiting the next graphics!

Maggie: The new village is quite small, pop. 127, so it might have a constable, but more likely the county sheriff would provide for the public safety needs. (Whew! I destroyed much of the old drawings--but still have yours wearing her comfy-clothes)
