Historic Homes of Denver: Wine & Food Series, Best Wine and Liquor Store on Capitol Hill, Denver, CO

I seriously doubt that my announcing that Argonauts Wine & Liquor store is a spectacular choice is going to be all that surprising to those of us that live and play in the Historic Neighborhoods of Denver. 

The folks at Argonuats Wine & Liquors were very smart when they decided to build a new building at the corner of Colfax and Clarkson.  They built a lovely red brick building that fits in perfectly with the Historic Homes of Denver that surround it.

The wine selection here is great no doubt!  I prefer red to white and recently have been leaning towards "Old Vine" Zinfandels.  The top notch wine people at Argonauts are always ready to help you select a new bottle to try.  Most recently I tried the Klinker Brick Old Vine Zin that was sensational!


Another wonderful choice that was recommended to me by wine manager Sheila Carey was the Plungerhead Zinfandel.  Yes, I know, it's an odd name, but a great wine!  Try it, you won't be disappointed!

On days that I just can't decide on a new choice I usually fall back to my "Old Standards" the Cline Old Vine Zinfandel or Cline Cashmere which never disappoints.

But, one of my very favorite aspects of being a customer here is the "One Day One Wine" specials that Wine Manager Sheila Carey produces.  Each day Sheila selects a wine and e-mails details of that wine to her customers at an attractive discount.  You MUST place your orders on line and you must wait for an e-mail confirmation from Sheila prior to picking up your wine.  This is how I discovered the Plungerhead Zin.

Last but not least make sure that you take advantage of the  "Preferred Shoppers" card.  You earn one point for each dollar that you spend, and at 500 points you start earning store credit which is always fun!
